universe42
About 2 years ago I purchased a Gig of Corsair's XMS PRO XL @ 2.2.2.5 adorned with fashionable blinky lights to go in my first SLI board. I had always planned on upgrading the memory to two gigs but at that time 1 GB was still crazy expensive so I just decided to wait. After a while I figured that 1 Gig was more than enough memory and decided to save that 350 bucks. Now with Vista out and the prices down, I feel a renewed interest to finally upgrade to the 2 gigs - but the 2.2.2.5 modules I purchased are extremely rare if not non-existant, not to mention xms is still significantly more expensive than others in its class. In addition the current selling XMS 3200 series are all rated at either 3.3.3.8 or 2.3.3.6 or some other flavor that doesnt match latency wise. Personally, I dont really care to have "the best of the best" on a rig which is ultimately on its last upgrade. Is it possible to use either value series or a slower latency set of corsair/other memory in the second and fourth slots to go along with my XMS PRO blinky bling bling sticks? I have an Asus A8N-SLI Premium if that helps. I would be more than happy to set the latency at lower than optimal settings to increase the memory capacity at a lower cost. Wired
You currently have TwinX1024-3200XLPRO. There are no modules in production that are compatible with them. You would need to replace them with a TwinX2048 pack. You COULD try mixing memory, but it's definitely NOT recommended, and will probably not work.
