deuspit
Hello all! I have this config: C2D E6600 P5B deluxe from Asus corsair twin2*1024 PC6400 C4 raid0 maxtor 250Go in 16mo X1950 Pro from MSI I have hard problem!!!! When i start computer with default settings, the bios at boot shows : C2D at 2.4Ghz Ram PC2 6400 ...2Gb ... no errors with OCCT ok! well! BUT when i want to overclock (just and only a little...i don't ask the moon!!) like 320*9=2880Ghz, bios show me ram at 5300!! More funny, when i write this: FSB CPU=400 Coeff=8 FSB ram=800Mhz PCI=100 Pci Clock =33.33 Spread spectrum=desactivated Memory voltage=2.1V CPU Vcore =1.42V FSB terminal voltage=auto NB Vcore1.45V and in ram by SPD: 4-4-4-12-(auto for the others...) When bios boots, it shows ram to PC 4300!!!!! If i launch OCCT, he shows me errors...:(: I read LOTS OF forum...everywhere... but I don't find answer to my questions:[pouts: . Please: What should i write as values in all my motherboard in order to have a stable computer to 3.2Ghz (400 * 8)!!!!!!!!!! Really thanks for the future answer!! Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 6, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 6, 2006 First thing, An E6600 at 1200 FSB is one heck of an over clock for that CPU but some have got close. But you have to run the memory in sync with your CPU! and then work you way up slowly. DDR2 Memory runs at: DDR2-533 = 266 Clock Frequency 2 X 266 = DDR2 533 DDR2-667 = 333 Clock Frequency 2 X 333 = DDR2 667 DDR2-800 = 400 Clock Frequency 2 X 400 = DDR2 800 DDR2-1066 = 533Clock Frequency 2 X 533 = DDR2 1066 Intel CPU: 533 MHz = 133 MHz Clock Freq. 133 X 4 800 MHz = 200 MHz Clock Freq. 200 X 4 1066 MHz = 266 MHz Clock Freq. 266 x 4 Also I would encourage you to do a bit more research on some over clocking forums and I think things will be come more clear. deuspit
Hello all! I improve my answer...sorry but my english is poor! Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 7, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 7, 2006 Because you are trying to run the memory at 1203 Mhz at these settings! In order to run the CPU at that frequency you will need to set the memory Frequency at 533MHz!
deuspit
But i put my ram at the lower value in the bios...so i put 800Mhz (after overclocking, 800Mhz is the lower value i can set for my RAM frequency)! After overclocking i can't chose 533!!!!!!!!!!!!
DerekT
What version is your BIOS. Set default settings and before you move to an overclock, set your DRAM to 533 first, then save your settings and see if your CPU-z shows the 533 strap. If so, go into your BIOS and begin to overclock.
deuspit
Ok...It was that i did! Always not work! Ram is identified as PC2 4300! but i have PC2 6400 configure at 800Mhz in the bios (when i overclok the 533 ========>800Mhz) and my PC is not stable...under OCCT! What should i do? Always thanks for your answers

DerekT
You might well have a motherboard/bios issue. Do you know of any technicians where you live that can take a look at your board? If you set your system to stock, there should be no problem. If you set to stock and your dram to 800 it should read 800MHz, show PC6400 and run your system at 4:5. deuspit
i test ram... with memtest... no problem after 26 minutes and 2 pass for each 1 gbts! i launch CPU-Z and it show me the Ram as frequency 400Mhz, FSB:DRAM = 1:1 ,4-4-4-12! For the CPU it shows: core speed= 3200Mhz,multiplier= 8, Bus speed= 400, Rated FSB= 1600Mhz! Is it good?is it ok? Does my dram work at 800Mhz as the PC2 6400? And why at the beginning when bios starts my motherboard show PC2 4300? it is a motherboard's problem isn't it? Always thanks for your answer and the time that you use for me... thanks! DerekT
I wouldn't worry at the BIOS reading level of the DRAM. You are at an excellent overclock. However, you need to check your thermals if you have not done so and also test for stability of the CPU. Download CoreTemp: http://www.thecoolest.zerobrains.com/CoreTemp/CoreTemp.zip Extract and run this program. This program will tell you what your VID is and the temperatures of your CPU Cores. What is your VID? Download Orthos Prime: http://sp2004.fre3.com/beta/orthos_exe_20060420.cab Extract and run this program. Have CoreTemp running at the same time. I would test for 8 hours consecutively. What are your Core Temperatures after an hour of Orthos?
deuspit
Hi, First Happy new year all! Second really sorry, but i lose my internet connection (cause a bloody Internet access fournissor.... grrr!!!) When i launch Core temps beta, it shows VID=1.325 but in other programs , like PC probe (or even directly in the bios of my motherboard) i can see 1.45V, and i put 1.475 in the bios of the motherboard! I launch now orthos... i will post the temperature in 1hour!! Really thanks for all who has the sciences and who SHARES it, contrary to bloody man who takes it for himself... deuspit
it is testing... But it is really strange... core temps beta show my CPU frequency as 450 X 8 = 3600Mhz... But i have 400 X 8 =3200Mhz in the bios... (it is sure...) really strange.... the test is going on...

DerekT
Your system is unstable. I don't know what you are doing to your system but I would trust Core Temp as showing the correct setup and you have your FSB at 450. What does CPU-z show? deuspit
Cpu-Z show 8 X 400Mhz = 3200Mhz as i put in bios!!!!!! but it shows me 1.32V as CPU voltage, but i put 1.465V in the bios... i'm going to be crazy  maybe should i stay at 350*9... deuspit
Well i try 420 X 8=3360Mhz, CPU voltage=1.60V in the bios, DDR at 2.15V! CPU-Z shows: Cpu Voltage= 1.213V Core speed=3359Mhz (420 X 8 :p: ) Core temps beta shows: VID=1.3250V Frequency=3780Mhz (472.51 X 8 !! ) :D: stable under orhos and OCCT, at 50° :D: I test 400 X 9 =3600Mhz, until this values CPU voltage=1.70V!!!!!!!!! in the bios But always instable... so i keep 420*8... maybe i will try 430...440...... DerekT
It looks as though you are fine with your hardware. Your clocks are very good as well as your thermals. Your CPU volts are FAR HIGHER than I would personally use. A good rule of thumb is no greater than 0.2v + VID.

deuspit
Damn! i will try this value for my CPU voltage in the bios of my motherboard : 1.675V, i am near the highest value : 1.7V But it doesn't work at 9 X 370Mhz= 3330Mhz ... (360 works...) But it doesn't work after 8 X 420Mhz= 3360Mhz ... Pc is unstable under OCCT... I don't break the 64°... but unstable.... 1)Should i modify ohter values? 2)I put my ram to 2.15V... should i put it to 2.25V? (you are going to smyle...but this dumb motherboard don't have the value 2.20V for the ram voltage... ) ? 3)should i put 9 X 360Mhz (4:5) or 8 X 420Mhz for the best performances with CPU and RAM PS: under Everest UE, with 9 X 370 i have a latency of 50.6ns and with 8 X 420 i have a latency of 69ns... thx for asnwer... Close to 1.7V on Core2? I will not give you any advice except to tell you that you are not going to gain any system longevity. I would keep my own system very very very far away from your hands.
