ndcoffee
I am pretty sure I have 1 bad module. P5w DH Deluxe TWIN2X2048-6400C4D 1. Installed both modules and system just hangs at asus logo screen 2. Installed just one module and booted fine. 3. So I tried the assumed bad module and just hangs at asus logo screen. What do I do next? I purchased this just last week from Newegg. If this is a bad module, what is the turn around time on RMA? I use this computer for work (SolidWorks CAD)
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 3, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 3, 2006 Can you tell me the bios settings you have set for both CPU and memory and any performance settings that you may have set?
ndcoffee
The first time booting with both sticks installed was stock. For the reason I could not get to the bios to try any other settings, would just hang. Then when I installed only one of the mem sticks it booted fine and I got to the bios. I set the mem voltage to 2.1 and 800mhz, saved and shutdown to install the 2nd stick. Tried to boot with both sticks installed and it would just hang, could not get to the bios. Swithed back to the one stick that worked and booted fine. Tried the 2nd stick alone and would just hang.

ndcoffee
Ramguy, Thanks for the fast reply I will RMA these within a week after I get another set in. Just need A few questions answered before I order the other set. Can I run 2 sets of TWIN2X2048-6400C4D without any problems? Are these setting right and would they be the same for 2 sets installed? I am currently running just one stick with these settings with a x6800 (hangs randomly, maybe I have 2 bad sticks not just 1) AI Over Clock Tuner: Manual CPU External Frequency: Manually set to 266MHz (Is this ok or should it be 200) DDR2 SDRAM Clock: Manually set to 800MHz PCI Express Freq: Auto PCI Freq: 33.33 Performance Mode: Standard DRAM Timing Selectable: Manual SDRAM CAS Latency: 4T SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 4T SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 4T SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 12T SDRAM Write Recovery Time: 5 DDR2 SDRAM Voltage: 2.1 CPU Core Voltage: Auto FSB Termination V: 1.50 V MCH Chipset V: 1.65V ICH Chipset V: 1.20V All other settings are motherboard defaults. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 8, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 8, 2006 I doubt that MB you have will run 4 modules at 800 MHz, you will probably have to run the memory at DDR667 with 4 modules and I would set the memory voltage to 2.1 Volts as well. ndcoffee
Does Corsair offer any memory that will run @ 800 and give me 4gb?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 8, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 8, 2006 That is not a memory limitation, that is a MB and or chipset limitation!
