Jedakiah
I bought my computer 1 and a half years ago. It was plagued with Blue Screens and instability, only during games. It would happen about 15 minutes after boot up, if the system had been powered down for a lengthy period of time. Than 3 - 4 minutes after that. I would either get a crash to desktop, or a Blue Screen. Sound like over heating, or a bad Power supply? It did to me. I saved up and got a liquid cooling system. No luck. I saved up and bought a power supply of substantial proportions. Still the errors. I bought a new Graphics card just in case, I still get errors. I have played with all kinds of drivers, settings and everything. Finally I took my computer into the local PC repair shop. They replicated my problems with ease. Than they replaced my memory with different memory. Ran for 2 - 3 hours with no problems. Just to be sure I took the computer home, replaced the memory and ran a video game for 24 hours with out a lock up. I want an RMA.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 30, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 30, 2006 Please adjust the DDR voltage to the required 2.75v in bios and run memtest86 on the modules individually. Provide which test the module fails in if any. Here are the directions you can use to run memtest: 1. Head over to http://www.memtest.org 2. Click on the link labeled "Download (Pre-built & ISOs)" 3. Next click on the link labeled "Download - Pre-Compiled package for Floppy (DOS - Win)" 4. Download the software and Unzip the program files 5. Make sure a floppy disk is inserted 6. Run the program, when it asks which drive letter type in "a:" 7. Program should finish writing, reboot off floppy disk 8. Allow memtest to run 2-3 passes
Jedakiah
Failed. The default configuration found errors It will find errors considerably faster if I change the Address range to "Test all memory" and the Memory Sizing to "BIOS - ALL" or "Probe". The only memory voltage settings I can find in BIOS allow options for +.01v or +.02v. The motherboard manual describes the default setting (the one I used) as "Supply DDR voltage as DDR required." If an RMA is to happen. Is it possible, for extra cost, to get different modules in exchange? Either way, where do I go from here?
