Issues with this motherboard and Corsair RAM?

I've just put together a system with the ASRock Conroe 945G-DVI and 2x1024 XMS2 5400C4 sticks and I can't even get a POST, just a single short beep and a blank screen.

Are there know issues with this mobo/RAM combination? I heard on another forum that this board requires RAM rated at 1.8V. Could that be an issue?

Unfortunately, we have no tested this motherboard. I believe the default is 1.8v. See if you can boot with one stick. Then adjust the DDR Voltage to 1.9v. If you are unable to boot with either sticks, I would recommend the VS2GBKIT667D2.

Thanks, Ram Guy. I'd actually already tried with just one stick and it didn't make any difference. But now things are getting stranger...

I tried powering up with a Ubuntu boot disc in the CD drive and, low and behold, the thing boots up. However, I still get no POST screen. The first time I see any picture on the monitor is when the disc is fully booted up.

Does this mean it is definitely not a RAM issue now? Or is it still possible RAM compatibility is causing my problems?
