Zacchino
Hello there, I've already posted here for a bad memory replacement story. Now it seems that Memtest86+ runs without any errors on both modules connected with 5-5-5-12... @1.9v The issue is that I had several (random) CRC errors with Winrar... On any hard drives I have (Seagate S-ATA II). So my guess is the culprit is my RAM configuration / tweaks. Can you guys help me and tell me what are the definitely SAFE tweaks to make in my BIOS (latest flash) ? Because I'm working night and day on my computer so I have no interrest for OC. I have 2 x VS1GB667D2 modules and an ASUS P5WD-E Premium, with a Pentium D 960 processor. Here's my current bios settings that you may find useful to resolve my case ! CPU Frequency = 200 DRAM Frequency = 667Mhz (maybe that I should tweak it to 533mhz ?) Memory Voltage = 1.9v (maybe that I should tweak it to 2.1v ?) CPU Core Voltage = 1.2875v (instead of 1.30v, is that useful btw ?) FSB Termination Voltage = 1.30v (adviced in the Asus P5WD2-E Premium MB forums) MCH Chipset Voltage = 1.50v (adviced in the Asus P5WD2-E Premium MB forums) ICH Chipset Voltage = 1.05v (adviced in the Asus P5WD2-E Premium MB forums) DRAM CAS # Latency = 5 DRAM RAS# Precharge = 5 DRAM RAS# to CAS# Delay = 5 DRAM RAS# Activate to Precharge = 12 Write Recovery Time = 5 Hyperpath 3 = Enabled DRAM Throttling Threshold = Auto I saw that the specs for this VS1GB667D2 stick was 5-5-5-15-2T... What does 2T stands for ? And what Write Recovery Time ? I'm not a specialist here... I'm just trying to make my PC run rock solid for professional Audio use... Thanx in advance ! Zacchino
R E S O L V E D !!!!! After some testings, here's the tweaks that erradicated any CRC errors with Winrar, and I guess a lot of BSOD (and trust me I've seen a lot of them) in the future ! If you own a P5WD2-E Premium and 2 x 1 VS1GB667D2, with a Pentium D 960, here's the most rock solid tweaks to make in your bios : DRAM Frequency = 533Mhz Memory Voltage = 2.1v Do not select By SPD, but enter these number manually : DRAM CAS # Latency = 5 DRAM RAS# Precharge = 5 DRAM RAS# to CAS# Delay = 5 DRAM RAS# Activate to Precharge = 15 Write Recovery Time = 2 Hope it'll help people in the same boat ! Thanx Ramguy for all your posts, and for this fantastic support platform, you made my day !
