haloeighty8
RamGuy, I've been pulling my hair out trying to figure out my stability issues and it turns out it's this dominator ram. I went over to fry's and bought some twin2x2048-6400c4 and the issues have stopped. So I wanna get my dominator ram rma'd/exchanged. I purchased it from zipzoomfly, it's the Corsair Dominator Series TWIN2X2048-8888C4DF 2GB Kit DDR2-1111 PC2-8888 series. I've confirmed this by trying the ram in 2 other system and they have the issues as well. Please let me know how to procede, I guess I need a ticket # from you before I can fill out the online rma form. thanks..
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 20, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 20, 2006 I am sorry but the MB you have listed will not be able to run these modules at their tested settings can you tell the settings you have set in the bios for both CPU and memory? haloeighty8
That is not the motherboard I'm using.. that sig is old, I'm using a eVGA 680i motherboard. Nevertheless whichever new motherboard I try them in it just fails.. I want to get these replaced. They cost me $600 bucks.. I don't think that's asking for much, do you? They have been tested in a Asus p5n32.. same deal!. Random reboots... lockups.. power downs. Only happens when I use this ram. Ram is being used at it's tested settings, ever since I starting using this other ram. No Problem. Which leads me to believe it's the ram.

haloeighty8
Please state the settings you are attempting to run(frequencies, timings and voltage). The 8888 requeire 2.4v. I don't have the ram in atm so I couldn't tell you, in fact I got tired of dealing with these sticks. But I tried everything.. even just running them at default 5-5-5-15 @ 2.4, and yes I was aware of the voltage, I'm no newbie here Ram guy.. ;) been building systems and such for mucho years now. I'm convinced that it's at least one of the sticks, when I boot with one it seems to be fine. I add in the 2nd.. and boom.. I'm lucky if I can boot. And if I do.. errors galore in memtest @ stock settings. Tried 4-4-4-12.. and so on no luck. In fact while where at it.. let me ask you something, the ram claims to be SLI ready. But strange thing is I got to mess around with the SLI settings 'once' and when I saved to bios. The option was greyed out.. never got to mess with them again. Now this 6400c4 I'm using works fine with the SLI settings. I've read of others having the same problem with the 8888C4DF. So I know it's not just me. But that aside, I need to get this taken care of ASAP. It's money sitting here.. that is useless to me.

Taodragon00
Sounds like a lot of hastle. I have bad Dominator sticks too. I feel your pain. I went and stopped using another manufacturer's brand and with with corsair for the 2nd time.... needless to say i'm not happy. Buy memory, get 1900+ errors in memtest is exactly what i want for $300+. Hope you get your memory soon. Shouldn't take 5-7 days though.

Taodragon00
Check your command rate on the memory. My 680i motherboard was detecting a 1T command rate and I had severe stability issues/bsod. If it is 1T, i'd recommend changing to 2T and try again. This might be your issue as it was mine. I haven't ran memtest to make 100% sure but my system would lock up within 3 mins before and its been up for hours now. Just a heads up.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 13, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 13, 2006 I would agree command rate should be set to 2T with most MB's and CPU's. Command Rate is not really a memory setting and would be dependant on the make and model of MB and PSU and the specific CPU you have installed. You might look this setting up on http://www.rojakpot.com and get a better explanation.
