dawhite
Hi, I have a dead RAM stick and I was wondering if I could get it replaced. The stick is a XMS2400 (really old, I know), and is one of two that I have in my computer. Yesterday, my computer started freezing and then refused to turn on. Today, with the aid of a user support guy at the college I go to, we figured out that this one particular stick was dead. My motherboard has two memory slots, and the computer won't start no matter which slot the stick is in. The other stick, which is identical, allows the computer to boot with no problem from either slot. Can I still get the stick replaced even though it's so old? Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 20, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 20, 2006 Let's get them both replaced. Please use the RMA request found in TSXpress or follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! And please note that you are from the forum! dawhite
Oops! Sorry for the delay there. Things have been pretty hectic. I would love to get both sticks replaced, but unfortunately I need to use my computer pretty much all the time. Is there any way that I could get the replacements before I sent in my own sticks? Or could I just send in the defective one, get one replacement, and then send in the working one and get the other replacement? Anything to keep me up and running. Wired
It's recommended that you send both so that you get matching memory back.
dawhite
No problem, but is there any way I could send both so that I would not be sitting with a dead computer until the replacements shipped? Like I said, I could either get the replacements first and then send the defective stick and the other one, or we could do it in an alternating fashion where I first sent the defective stick, then got one replacement, then sent the other stick, then got the other replacement. Are either of those options possible at all? Thanks, David
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 28, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 28, 2006 Sorry, please send in both modules. Currently we do not provide advanced replacement.
dawhite
Is it OK if a wait a few weeks to send them both in, then? I have a lot of work at the moment.
