IAmMoen
So I am trying to overclock my computer and i set the computer to run at a 250mhz fsb. I have the HT set to 3x (not the issue) and the cpu multi set at 8 (not the problem) and I try to start the computer running the ram at 250mhz with the quoted speeds of 3-4-4-8 and a voltage of 1.80v. No divider so it is running at the stock speed of 250mhz (DDR500) and the computer won't even post. I have always had this problem and always assumed that it wasnt the ram. However the computer posts all the way up to 270mhz when a ram divider was put in... Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 20, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 20, 2006 I would test the modules one at a time and what do you have the multiplier set to
IAmMoen
I had the multiplier for the cpu set at 7 just to take that out of the equation as well as HT set to 3x. The board has been known to get over 300mhz on the fsb and I have achieved 270mhz on the fsb when i have a divider setup. I have not tested the modules seperately yet but i was looking in Everest Ultimate Edition and it does not say that they are TWINX it says they are CMS I believe. I bought these modules from MWave a while ago.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 20, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 20, 2006 What happens when you test the modules one at a time? And the SPD will not show the Twinx part#.
IAmMoen
Alright I have tested them together (after testing them for 1 and half hours individually with no errors) and got errors in Memtest86+ v1.65 I have the ram at 3-4-4-8 2T @ 250mhz w/ 2.80v. The cpu multi is at 7 the HT is set to 3x just to take the proc and the mobo out of the question. On pass #3 I failed test #5 twice. I will now run both modules in the other two dimm slots. I will see what happens with that. Then I will run the individual modules in dimm slot 1 overnight to see what happens. Any other things to do? IAmMoen
Alright I have tested each setup for 8 hours. When the two ram modules were in Dimm slots 3 and 4 I still got errors. Then I tested each module seperately in dimm slot 3 for 6 and 8 hours respectively and no errors. What the heck is going on?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 26, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 26, 2006 It sounds more like the CPU may be topping out, can you test the module in another system?
IAmMoen
alright. Completely new computer built. DFI NF4 SLI-DR Expert with a Opteron 170, ocz gamextreme 600w psu, and XFX 7900gs. Windows won't even install. With fsb running at 200mhz and the timings turned way down it won't work. At the moment there theoretically could be something else wrong with the system but memtest won't even run when both modules are in. When I put one module in the first time it ran for 5 mins then crapped out. Since then memtest has never really worked at all. To see the errors I have been getting while trying to install windows check this thread at ocforums. http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=493776
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 6, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 6, 2007 Let's get it or them replaced, please use the On Line RMA Request Form and we will be happy to replace them or it.
IAmMoen
Well I forgot that my usps only takes cash or check and not cc. So I was only able to pay for the shipping with no insurance and tracking (I know you say to do it so i am an idiot) instead of driving all the way back home for more cash. It turned out to be a VERY expensive error seeing as my ram never got to california. Just thought I would let you know and maybe you would want to make an example of my $280 mistake. :(:

If so I would reply to that email and talk to our customer service.
IAmMoen
it costs extra to do tracking for usps. So no. I dont. Which is the problem unfortunately.
