ladnarud
Hello Is it still possible to get a set of TWINX1024-3200XLPRO replaced? They are unstable below 3-3-3-7-1T on nForce3,4 and VIA motherbords at 2,75-2,85V (won't run on default voltage). The seller said it's not so they offered to trade the set for some other memory of my choise (charging me the pricedifference decided by them). Thinking of upgrading to TWINX2048-3200C2PRO but don't know if they'll work on My MSI K8N Neo4-F since they're not in the compatible list. If they work, will they be slower then my current memory, 3-3-3-7-1T vs 2-3-3-6-2T? Guessing 2T from rest of the memorysticks listed and noticed that the TWINXP2048-3200C2 is listed at 3-3-3-8-2T so I'm a litle confused. They haven't got any other low latency, pro model to choose from.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 9, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 9, 2006 Can you tell me the exact settings you had set for both CPU and memory? And did you test the modules one at a time?
ladnarud
They was tested seperatly when they were new 1.5 years ago. It is hard to say wich one is worst since the failures are random and test has to run for several houres. The seller response at the time was incompatibilty (because both failed) even if I found several using the same hardware as mine at the time: A64 3500+ and MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum with very good results. No overclocking attempted (no point with current problem) so as much default as possible, only set voltage to 2.75 (default 2.6V?) and 2-2-2-5 timings. Tried up to 2.85V without difference. Don't remember BIOS version but did one update without difference. Tested them separetly in a friends computer with a VIA controler with simular results (2-2-2-5-1T@2.75V). They can run for several houres without failure even in dualchannel but never longer then 8 so far. The failures are always random but often i clusters. None for the first 23 runs i Memtest86 and then 25 in run 24, none for another 5 and 12 in the next and so on. Current motherbord is a MSI K8N Neo4-F with the same CPU (AMD Athlon 64 3500+ Winchester). Do not remeber the spec for my friends computer. Any particular settings you want me to test? Didn't get them replaced when new because I needed my computer and they work at slow timings.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 10, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 10, 2006 Random errors like you have described would suggest a power problem. Especialy if the modules will run and pass http://www.memtest.org in another MB. What is the make and model of your PSU and what Video card do you have? ladnarud
I'm currently using a Hiper 530W: http://www.hipergroup.com/English/products/hpu-4m530.html Previous was a Fortron/Source ATX 550W EPS12V, SATA, Special Edition Graphic cards thats at some time been used: Gainward GeForce 7600GT 256MB 1.4ns DDR3 ASUS N6200/TD GEFORCE 6200 256MB AGP Gainward GeForce 6800GT 256MB Might be my english thats bad but the memory can pass several runs in all tested computers. Thats whats makes testing them such a pain in the rear end. They can fail the first run or make it thru 10 but they've always faild in 8 hours or less (MemTest-86 v3.2 Nov 11, 2004 Chris Brady; http://www.memtest86.com). In Windows 2-2-2-5 causes random reboot, black- and bluescreens while surfing, gaming or whatever. Tested No-name , normal latency, memory in my first setup and they worked fine. My first setup: AMD Athlon 64 3500+ Winchester MSI K8N Neo2 Pl Fortron/Source ATX 550W Gainward GeForce 6800GT 256MB My second (current) setup: AMD Athlon 64 3500+ Winchester MSI K8N Neo4-F Hiper 530W (started with the Fortron/Source but replaced it because of nosie) Gainward GeForce 7600GT 256MB To me the memory seems stressed at 2-2-2-5. Almost making it but not 100%. Will run test with the newer version of memtest you linked to using 2-2-2-5-1T@2.75V.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 11, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 11, 2006 I would try them at 2T command Rate and or set the Ras to Cas at "3" and see if that helps but as I remember this MB was picky with memory sometimes. ladnarud
2-2-2-5 doesn't work at 1 or 2T. Ras to Cas at "3" does work at 1T so this motherbord seems less picky then the last one.
