vläd1626861129
Has Corsair done any testing with the new evga 680i? Any recommendations, possibly like Good, Better, Best? I have the motherboard here staring at me, now I need memory and a CPU! Thanks!

vläd1626861129
Please look up your system on our memory configurator. Unfortunately, there is no evga 680i (122-CK-NF68-AR) in the Corsair database. I imagine that the TWIN2X2048-9136C5D will be the choice for Best, is there any clue as to when these will hit the streets?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 9, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 9, 2006 I really doubt that MB will run at the tested settings of those modules. And you would need to make sure that you have the option to set the memory Voltage to 2.2 Volts other wise I would suggest VS2GBKit667D2 with that MB. Corsair's Press release stated; "Corsair®, a worldwide leader in high performance enthusiast computer products, today launched the world’s fastest DDR2 memory, the TWIN2X2048-9136C5D DOMINATOR™. Designed for the new NVIDIA® nForce™ 680i SLI™ media and communications (MCP)-based motherboards, the new DOMINATOR extends Corsair’s leadership in ultra high performance memory." Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 9, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 9, 2006 I have not tested that MB, and in the past EVGA has not over clocked that well. So unless a reviewer has tested a retail sample of the MB I would give the MB some time to mature.
vläd1626861129
Thanks, you've basically indicated why I haven't opened this evga motherboard box yet. I'll probably return it and pick up a Striker Extreme when it becomes available. Has anyone tested with that board yet?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 9, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 9, 2006 Well I take that back we are testing this MB in our lab now and with the XM2S-8500C5D we had this MB up to 1155 Mhz on the memory with a E6600 CPU! vläd1626861129
so.... Maybe this evga isn't like the previous evga boards? Which RAM would end up in the Good, Better, and Best catagories? My understanding is that this is a Foxconn manufactured board designed for nVidia and repackaged for partners like evga, BFG and others. My real worry with this board is BIOS update support. I'll hang back and wait for a recomendation before returning the board. The ASUS version won't hit until late next week at the earliest.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 9, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 9, 2006 Right now with out all of the testing completed I would say XM2S-8500 or -8888 would be a good best choice!
vläd1626861129
Thanks for checking on all of this Ram Guy! Any clue as when the testing may be completed?
