muerte
I bought two pairs of Corsair XMS2 DIMM Kit 2048MB PC2-6400U CL5-5-5-12 (DDR2-800) (TWIN2X2048-6400)alone with P5W DH, got random bluescreen during installation of windows 2003 R2 x64, I tested the RAMs with memtest86+ v1.65(USB legacy disabled) found each pair of the Kits has one bad module!! Before I request an RMA, is there anything I can try with the RAMs? Yes, I tried both auto SPD and manual setting in BIOS, 1.9V ~ 2.10V, 5300~6400. Any help/suggestion will be grateful, thanks in advance! Wired
were you testing one stick at a time in the same slot?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 7, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 7, 2006 Please Change ‘Write to Precharge delay’ in the BIOS (same page as for latencies) from default 10 to 15 and then test the modules again with the Voltage set to 2.1 Volts and the tested settings set manually! Then test them one set at a time with http://www.memtest.org to be sure!
muerte
Yes, I tried every single stick in all 4 banks on the board, and the results are the same! - It means the good one will pass at least 100% memtest+ at every slot and the bad one failed by 4% in every slot. muerte
Hi, RAM GUY After testing the RAMs several times using the setting you told me, I'm sad to post my results here, because the bad ones still failed to past Memtest. I also tested the RAMs on another ASUS P5W DH board (which is Rev.1.03), but the results were exactly the same! It seems this time I really got the Jackpot, I got two bad pairs of TWINXs at one time. This is the first time I have to post my problem here in the House of Help to request a RMA after using CORSAIR memorys for 4 years(There are still 8 DDRs in my other two computers.),and I hope this will be the last time.
