i have the asus P5B deluxe and 1gb (2*512) CorsairTwinX XMS2 DDR2 PC6400 (800), CAS 4-4-4-12 and i am having the same problem here.

 

Random reboots and general errors while running applications. Tend to happen more often during higher loads. Already updated bios, drivers and cleaned my disk, used the latest memtest with legacy usb disabled and it was errors after errors. Didn’t try the sticks separately since i didnt know i could do it.

 

i joined the forum because i found out using CPU-Z that the automatic SPD settings were wrong ( something like 5-5-5-18). I need the correct settings to adjust them manually, obviously the first four are easy but i have no clue about the others. Can anyone help i want to test the memories with memtest using the correct settings.

Please try and set the tested setting with thr Voltage set to 2.1 Volts and Change ‘Write to Precharge delay’ in the BIOS (same page as for latencies) from default 10 to 15. The please disable legacy USB and test with http://www.memtest.org. You can follow the link in my signature for the tested settings and all settings not listed should be set to Bios default or Auto!

Thanks for the reply i have tested the memories using the latest version of memtest and bios.

 

I used the the folowing settings:

 

Memory remap feature Disable ( bios default )

 

Dram CAS latency = 4 (changed it from 5)

Dram RAS to CAS delay =4 (changed it from 5)

Dram RAS Precharge =4 (changed it from 5)

Dram RAS Active to Precha = 12 (changed it from 18)

 

Dram Write recovery time = 6 ( bios default )

Dram TRFC = 42 ( bios default )

Dram TRRD = 10 ( bios default )

Rank write to read delay = 10 ( bios default )

Read to precharge delay =10 ( bios default )

Write to Precharge delay = 10 ( bios default ) (also tried with 15)

Static Read Control = auto ( bios default )

 

Initiate graphic adaptar = PEG/PCI ( bios default )

 

PEG FOR*1 = disable ( bios default )

PEG link mode = AUTO ( bios default )

Asus CGI = AUTO ( bios default )

Ai tuning = Manual

CPU frequency = 266 ( bios default )

DRAM Frequency = DDR2-800Mhz (bios default was set to auto)

PCI Express Frequency = AUTO ( bios default )

PCI synchronization clock = 33.33 Mhz (bios default was set to auto)

Spred spectrum = Auto ( bios default )

Memory Voltage =2.1V (bios default was set to auto)

CPU core voltage = Auto ( bios default )

FSB Termination voltage = Auto ( bios default )

NB Vcore = Auto ( bios default )

SB Vcore (sata,PCI E) = Auto ( bios default )

ICH chipset Voltage = Auto ( bios default )

 

Legacy USB also off

 

I still had errors. Can i test the memories separately?

ok tested them separately

 

One of the sticks start giving errors normally after 20 minutes to the test, the other already lasted two 8 hours tests without a single error.

 

Going to test them again using the other mobo slots just to be on the safe side but i fell it's fair to say that stick is dead.

 

One question in these cases do you replace the non-working stick or both since they are a matched pair? Just asking so I can know if i will be able to use this pc during the RMA.

I would suggest we get them both replaced please use the On Line RMA Request Form and we will be happy to replace them or it.

Problem is my pc is being used for work so right now i cant afford to lose it while i wait for the memory to arrive, is there anyway to solve this?
