Hi i am having trouble to find out the truth on how the Corsair Dominator PC8888 would run with the Asus P5W64 WS Pro motherboard,i have heard that the Dominator PC8888 ram doesn't run very well of the 975X chipset which is what my motherboard Asus P5W64 WS Pro is.

Is this true and how bad would it run on my motherboard,i am just not sure what to expect if i purchased this ram,i am ready to buy but i am not sure if should get the Corsair Dominator PC8888 or some other brand like G S k ill PC8500 ram,i really want the Corsair Dominator PC8888,does anyone know what how this ram would run with the Asus P5W64 WS Pro motherboard and how much i would be able to overclock the cpu,my cpu is the the Core 2 Extreme X6800 and i was hoping to be able to overclock it from 2.93Ghz to about 3.6Ghz with the ram set to 1066 and 4-4-4-12-2T timings, whats the best i could hope to acheive with this ram

dude i suggest you to read as many reviews as you can.. i'm sure you'll find a review having your motherboard..

Thanks dude but i have done all that, and i have read a heap of reviews and the problem is i am yet to find a review where they use a 975x chipset, because all the reviews i have come across have all used the 965 motherboards,as for a review with this ram and my motherboard combination, there is none,it seems to be imposible to find a review with the 975x chipset let alone trying for a specific branded 975x motherboard like my Asus P5W64 WS Pro motherboard.

I now know corsair are not open at the moment but i was hoping some member on this forum might have the Asus P5W64 WS Pro motherboard setup with the Corsair Dominator PC8888 ram and could let me know if it works ok or not.

by the way i forgot to ask does anyone know if there is much speed gains going from 800fsb to 1066fsb ram, because originally i wasn't sure if i should just get 800fsb ram, what actual gains will 1066fsb give me over 800 fsb in a core 2 duo setup.

Is it worth the nearly double the price because at the price the 1066 ram is i could get get 4 gigs of 800 fsb ram.

Yes, there's a small difference, but it depends on what you'll be using the computer for. Also, 4 GB is overkill ATM, and will not run at top speed, or overclock as much when running 4 sticks.

ok thanks for your reply, yeah i think i will stick with 2 gigs of good quality ram.
