wolfen66
My system had been crashing while playing everquest 2. I ran memtest 86 which indicated 2 failures. I have 2 sticks of 512mb Corsair twinx 3200LL memory. I tried the system with each stick on its own and with the bad module the system would not boot up. With just the good module in the system booted fine and i am able to play everquest2 crash free. First off is my memory under warranty? I got it 2 years ago this month. Please let me know. wolfen66
I am running them at the default settings. I have not overclocked my system at all. I can check the settings in the Bios when i get home if you need them. Otherwise how do I get an RMA and I was reading that I would need to send both sticks of memory in? Let me know if you need any other info and I can provide that tonight. Thanks
Wired
2 errors can be almost anything. I'd highly suggest to set your memory to the afforementioned settings and then test using Memtest86+.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 7, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 7, 2006 Yes please make sure that you have the latest bios and then load setup defaults and set the settings that Wired provided and test the modules one at a time with http://www.memtest.org. wolfen66
I set the memory to the settings requested by wired and ran memtest again. It received 1949 errors. My memory settings were set to auto in the bios before i changed them.
Yellowbeard
If it was not mentioned above, you must disable Legacy USB Support in the bios when running Memtest on ASUS MOBOs.
wolfen66
If it was not mentioned above, you must disable Legacy USB Support in the bios when running Memtest on ASUS MOBOs. I tested the machine with this bad module and it will not boot up. When i use only the good ram module the system works perfectly with no crashes and has since i removed the bad ram. I have also since tried the good module in the same slot the bad one was in and it works fine. Is there a flaw with this testing process Im not aware of? It seems pretty obvious to me that this one module is the problem. Before I do another memory test with legacy support disabled is there anything else I should be doing so I dont have to run these tests over and over again? Yellowbeard
If it will not boot at all, it must be dead then, RIP. :(: Let's get them both replaced. Please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! If it is a TwinX pair, please return both modules so that you will get a matched and tested pair in return.
