Federelli
I can't get my ram to boot at 800MHZ timings at 4-4-4-12 and voltage at 2.1V. It does boot however at 667 5-5-5-15 1.8V. What's going on, has anyone had a similar experience?

Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 3, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 3, 2006 What PSU are you using? And have you tested the modules one at a time to see if one is failing?
Federelli
I'm using a Topower 420W with 28Amps on the 12V rail, more than enough. Thanks for replying!
Federelli
Ramguy, could it be that this is happening because i'm not able to change the Command Rate from the bios? Could you guys contact MSI and ask them when will this option be included in their bios? Also wanted to say that ram is v2.1, and that i managed to get DDR2-800 at 5-5-6-15 1.8V, SPD left at default, i only changed the ratio to 1:1.5. Everest reports that the SPD for DDR2-800 is 5-5-5-15, why is RP at 6?? http://img294.imageshack.us/img294/6783/everestvq4.png Here's a shot of the modules http://img527.imageshack.us/img527/4302/dsc01064gi3qu3.th.jpg
anewprelusion
I'm having the same problems with 6400C4's with a Hiper Type R 580W power supply. Currently Settling at... CPU: 355 FSBRAM: 667 4-4-4-12 at 2.1v
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 8, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 8, 2006 Please try and set the tested setting with thr Voltage set to 2.1 Volts and Change ‘Write to Precharge delay’ in the BIOS (same page as for latencies) from default 10 to 15. The please disable legacy USB and test with http://www.memtest.org.

Federelli
Ramguy if i understood correctly you want me to do the following: Set the ram from 800MHz 5-5-6-12 1.8V to 800MHz 5-5-6-15 2.1V and test with memtest with USB Legacy Disabled? Well there is no USB Legacy option, there is whoever an USB Controller option and also an USB 2.0 Controller option, should i disable them both? I'm not sure what you meant with "from default 10 to 15", default 10? In other words could you explain step by step in more detail what you want me to do, cuz i didn't get it :P Thanks again! Wired
There is a setting in the BIOS for: Write to Precharge delay The initial setting as defined by the manufacturer is: 10 Change it to:
Federelli
Ermm the default setting for that is AUTO, not 10, so that's why i asked. So it's like i said then, i should memtest with DDR800 5-5-6-15 2.1V?
Wired
I believe this is what he means: CAS Latency (tCL): 4RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 4Row Precharge (tRP): 4Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 12Write to Precharge Delay: 15 Memory Voltage: 2.1 VoltsAll other settings to defaults. Federelli
Whaaaaaaa after doing what i said, one module showed errors, it first started showing errors at test 8 first pass, after a while everywhere, it was module 341550 0640014-10. The other 341551 0640014-10 did ok in 4 passes, so i guess it's ok. http://img82.imageshack.us/img82/4454/errorpx4.jpg There is no Write to Precharge Delay option on my bios, only:cas latency Auto (defaults to 5)dram ras# to cas# delay (auto defaults to 5)dram ras# precharge (auto defaults to 6)precharge dealy (tRAS) (auto defaults to 12, it really says dealy instead of delay)

Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 9, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 9, 2006 Let's get them both replaced. Please use the RMA request found in TSXpress or follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! And please note that you are from the forum! Federelli
Thank you very much ramguy, let's see if i can get this solved as fast as possible since i really need my PC. Thanks for everything, and wish me luck :). Oh, is it normal for ram to show errors on memtest but be stable in windows and everything else (even though not at it's rated speed)? Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 9, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 9, 2006 If the system is stable in Windows that I would suspect some other problem. What PSU do you have and Did you Disable Legcay USB?
Federelli
It is stable but not at it's rated speed, as you know it won't boot with 4-4-4-12 DDR800 however it's stable at DDR2 800 5-5-6-12. As i said before my PSU is a Topower 420W with 28Amps on the +12V rail. Also as i said there is no legacy USB option, but i did disable USB Controller (which in turn disabled every USB option on the same page).
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 10, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 10, 2006 I would see if a friend can help you test the modules in another system and or test your system with another PSU if you can barrow one. But I have no problem replacing your modules if you want to try that. Please use the RMA request found in TSXpress or follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! And please note that you are from the forum! Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 11, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 11, 2006 Yea I know someone who is using a P2 still and tells me how fast it is, but I just keep my mouth shut I dont want to break her heart!
Federelli
Ram guy i have a question about RMA. What am i supposed to do exactly, remember i am from Argentina. I got the shipping label, i should go to the nearest shipping company, and buy a box, then stick the label on the box, add the postage, and send it to you guys? Wired
Yes. You send your bad memory to Corsair, and in return, they ship back good memory.
