Need help selecting XMS memory for future compatability

Hello,

It's time to upgrade again and I need help selecting the right memory.

First off I am upgrading to a Core 2 Duo (probably E63, 64 or 6600), I am going to keep my existing 7800 GS AGP card and plan on (2) 1gb XMS sticks. ASRock 775Dual-VSTA Socket T (LGA 775) VIA PT880 PRO ATX Intel Motherboard is the motherboard I have selected. This board should allow me to keep my video card until DX10 hardware comes out and still allow me to upgrade to Duo and DDR2 memory.

Now here are my questions...

1. Is there an XMS line I can purchase that is DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) that will scale back to the 533 or 667 speeds? I want my memory to come with me when I later upgrade (mobo or proc) to DDR2 800 speeds.

2. The mobo I have selected says it supports DDR2 667. This begs 2 other questions...

a. I thought I would need DDR2 533 (PC2 4300) (half of the 1066 FSB) where is this DDR2 667 speed coming from?

b. I've noticed Corsair memory DDR2 675 (PC2 5400) is this the same as 667?

3. Can someone please explain how mobo's are running DDR2 800 in the first place? All of the Conroe boards are 1066/800. I might be mistaken but it was my understanding that you got memory that was half the speed of the FSB. At least, that's the way it was the last time I went memory shopping (the AMD XP days)

Thanks in advance for all the help, I end up playing "catch-up" every three years when it's time to upgrade, trying to figure out all that has changed since the last time. This go round is even a bit more difficult since I have been running AMD procs for the past 8 and have been completely out of the Intel memory loop for quite some time.

I have confirmed with the manufacturer that this motherboard will support 1.8, 1.9 and 2.1 volts. If I purchase the TWIN2X2048-6400 (or anything else in the Twin2X line) will it scale back to 667? I have also confirmed that the TWIN2XP2048-6400C4 line does work in this board. The only difference is that the tech sheet on the TWIN2XP2048-6400C4 specifically says it will run at 667 whereas the TWIN2X2048-6400 does not. Thanks for the help thus far
