VS512MB400 and VS256MB400

Hi! I have two VS256MB400 that i've used quite a while now. I thout i needed 512mb more and therefor i bought one VS512MB400 to go with these two. But when i insert all three of them the computer does a beep-sound and i get no screen at all. The VS512MB400 works just fine when that's the only ram i put in. I guess they just are not compatible?

Is there anyting i can do? I'm used to SDRam and never thout about duel-channels and stuff like that.

Will it work if i buy another VS512MB400 ??

I have a MSI K8N Neo2-FX motherboard and the numbers on the memory sticks are as folowing:

VS256MB400 824-0529066-0-078882

VS512MB400 0636019-0-147874

They are both (all three) Corsair ValueSelect with 8 IC, and the two 256mb sticks came in a bundle.

Thanx a lot for your time and expertise!

Is this a socket 939 MB or 754?

If its 939 you would need to use all the same modules 1,2 or 4 modules but not three.

If its socket 754 I would try and reset the bios with all three installed and then you might have to run the memory at PC-1600 with three modules!

Ohh.. :( It's a socket 939 MB. Does all the 4 sticks have to be the same or can i use two VS256MB400 and two VS512MB400 and run them all in dual channel?

Thanx for your response!
