Geraldoaj
:(: Ok, here is the problem::confused: I am having frequently game crashes and blue screens...memory problems right?, Opened Everest Pro, tested RAM with stress tests for hours and everithing is ok. I fixed the problem by changind frequency from 400 to 333 in BIOS, but i want to use full 400 of my RAM!!!. I changed manually voltage to 2.7 and played for one hour without crashes, but when i tested with 3dmark03, BANG!!! Got the Blue Screen again... So, is there anything i could do to use dual channel 400 without reducing it? My bios setup is a little complicated and have too many options to change, besides the 2,5/3/3/8, but i did put manually the 2t, latency 2,5 and the problem continues... Please ram guy help me here. Sorry about my english, i am brazilian. :p: Thanks!! My specs are: Athlon 64 3500+ Venice Asus A8V VIA KT880PRO Samsung 80 7200 IDE 2 x 512 Corsair Dual Channel Ddr400 Value Select Asus Ati Radeon X800 PRO 256 BITS DDR3 Seventeam 420w PurePower 17" LG LCD Flatron 1740PQ *Bios Setting AUTO*
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 3, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 3, 2006 Please make sure that you have the latest bios and then load setup defaults and set the Dim Voltage to 2.7 volts and then test the module/modules one at a time with http://www.memtest.org and then together in slots 1-3 or 2-3! If you still get errors, please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! However, if you get errors with both modules that would suggest some other problem and I would test them in another system or MB to be sure. In addition, with this MB you have to disable legacy USB in the bios when running any memory test.

Well, the modules were just fine last week with my other mobo, without any problem and the ram tests were also ok too. I am reading forums and some people say that might be an issue (not malfuction) with this kind of cpu (3500+) and this kind of memory (simple value select), perhaps i need some better ram to mach the memory controller of the cpu? Is there a good setting in bios to compensate this difference? I mean, fsb, voltage, latency, etc. I never overcloked and i need safe sugestions to my specs. Thanks! Geraldoaj
Ok, as you suggested, my bios was updated last week, and last night i did the memtest for about 9 hours. It run a full 22 tests and only reported 2 errors only on test 5. Reading this trouble site from the developer (http://www.memtest86.com/#trouble), i can see that some errors on test 5 are "normal", "...Errors from this test are not used to calculate BadRAM patterns.". So, what next? i am running now at bios defaults, ddr 400 and timings set manually. Using windows, running low on net, e-mails everything seems ok and stable. But when i run games i got bsod or crashes, mostly crashes and rarely bsod. I am starting to think that what i have to do is a clean install of windows and drivers... Please ramguy, what seems to be my problem? Thanks,
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 7, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 7, 2006 If you have not done so I would try and set the memory voltage to 2.75 Volts and see if that will solve the problem.
Geraldoaj
 Oh god, now i really don´t know what more to do. The modules are just fine, run memtest for the second time (now for almost 10 hours and got no errors) Tested now with ddr 2,7 volts (My mobo offfers only Auto - 2,6 - 2,7 or 2,8). Set to 2,7 like you said and got same gaming crashes. I am not OC, The memory setting are all tiped manually in bios, my system temps are also ok, already did a fresh install os windows and latest chipset drivers and my problem still here. At least BSOD and reboots seems to be gone for two days now after the fresh xp install, but the game crashes (with different games) continues. Just to remember: If i set the memory to 333 i got NO PROBLEMS AT ALL!! So, i am starting to think that this is a problem with cpu memory controller and the modules. I could compensate the loss of ram by raising the fsp to 240, but i don´t like OC and i want to use the RAM in double channel ( 2 x 512) with full 400 not 333. Any ideas guys? THanks again. Geraldoaj
I can run the memory solid now at 400 but in SINGLE CHANNEL MODE only. IF i put them in dual channel i will got crash, reboot or BSOD. I found this topic: http://www.planetamd64.com/lofiversion/index.php/t13017.html Forum: "I have tried it all BIOS, Drivers, Bios Settings, Ran MEMTEST, the trick to the A8V board seems to be in the dual channel mode. I have an ASUS A8V mobo, AMD 3500 64 CPU, 2 GIG Corsair dual channel kit, WD SATA 74 gig Raptor harddrive, Asus built X800XT PE 256mb video card, latest drivers, and BIOS. I was having game crash problems. Put Ram into Single channel mode and not a problem since. Ran 3DMark03 successfully a hand ful of times in Dual Channel mode score was 12311. Ran 3DMark03 in Single channel mode scored 12037. Not bad at all considering I can play any game I wish now. RUN YOUR RAM on your A8V in SINGLE CHANNEL MODE if you are experiencing issues with games." This guy have a system very close to mine and as you can see, he also run his system in single channel to obtain stability. I think that i will have to live with this until i upgrade my system...:(:
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 15, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 15, 2006 If the modules will run and pass http://www.memtest.org one up then its most likely some other problem, and I would test the modules in another system to be sure!
