Formatting issue...

I recieved a 512mb Flash Voyager from a friend, and have tried to use it on various occasions. However, each PC I plug it into alerts that the file I:\RECYCLER\RECYCLER\autorun.exe is infected with a virus. I have formatted the flash drive using the simple right click - format command various times, the EZ Recover utility, the Corsair Flash Utility software, and through the command prompt, however I still recieve the virus warning each time I plug in the drive. I am not sure if this is some sort of software malfunction regarding the PCs I plug the drive into, but I find it hardly believeable that each and every computer that I try to format the drive on is incapable of formatting it correctly. Is this some sort of inherent software that allows the flash drive to work as a bootable drive? Is it part of a hidden partition that I am unaware of (although I have repartitioned it various times with the Flash Utility software)? If this is just me and AVG and Norton Antivirus being paranoid about inherent software, please let me know so that I can start using the disk again, as currently I am too weary of spreading the virus/worm to my work-related computers and co-workers to use it again. Thank you for your assistance and time :)

First thing, the recycled Bin in on your HDD and you would need to clear the Virus from the host system. Other wsie the Virus will put it self right back on any Disk or drive you connect to the system.

Please contact the maker of your AntiVirus software to help you to clean your system.

The folder I:\RECYCLER\RECYCLER exists on the flash disk, not on any of the hosts. I was referring to that folder, within which the autorun.exe file resides, not the recycle bin. I have tried formatting the drive on various systems, including clean XP installs to no avail. The folder and its contents remain, and continue creating issues. On the fresh XP installed machine, with no antivirus software, once the flash drive was plugged in, and the computer restarted an illegible notepad window opens, with nonrecognizable characters as a heading. After another reinstallation of XP, then the addition of various antivirus software, the autorun file is identified once again as a virus. I still have not been able to successfully find the folder in which the file exists in, as the flash drive appears empty even under DOS... Any other suggestions? Perhaps some powerful erasing/formatting software that you could recommend I purchase?

Please contact the maker of you antivirs to help you clean the Virus before you do anything. The Virus has to be cleaned or disabled. And if you format the drive there will not be anything on it. So the system is putting the file back on the drive. I would try and empty the Recycled Bin and then scan your system for a Virus and then format the drive once the Virus is gone!
