paulmc28
I have the same setup as the Corsair Labs Performance report # 11447. How did you derive the 968 memory FSB? I can only get 870 or I am I not calculating this correctly. Please help me understand. Thanks.

Yellowbeard
What memory speed or divider setting are you choosing? In the report with the CPU FSB at 290 and memory at 968, the ratio used is a 3:5 setup. And, what is your CPU FSB speed? Mike.
paulmc28
Mike thanks for the reply. The ratio is 2/3x if I'm reading it correctly. How do you adjust this? I'm not at home right now but I think the CPU FSB is around 2600. posted: 5:00pm If I understand you correctly, I will need to set my DRAM frequency to 483? Is this correct? paulmc28
What where the bios settings used to achieve these performances results. Still looking for an answer. Paul
Yellowbeard
paulmc28, I have contacted the tech that performed that analysis. He has not responded yet but, I will post as soon as I get an answer. When you select your memory speed in the bios, what options do you have and which one are you using? Mike. paulmc28
Thanks Mike. Any time I try to set the DRAM frequency to other than AUTO it will not post. I did however get it to boot using these settings. CPU FSB = 400 CPU Multiplier = 8x DRAM FSB = 800 PCIE FSB = 100 DRAM = 2.15v CPU VCORE = 1.375v NB = 1.45v DRAM SPD 4-4-4-12 and static read disabled. This will yield: CPU = 3200 DRAM = 800 RAM to FSB ratio = 1:1 FSB = 1600 So I now have a different question is it better to run the memory at 1:1 or 2:3 or 3:5? Yellowbeard
So I now have a different question is it better to run the memory at 1:1 or 2:3 or 3:5?Well, there has always been a raging debate over synch vs asynch. And in the past, some platforms would run aynch very well and some would not. A divider will allow you run the memory much faster than the CPU giving you much greater memory bandwidth. 1:1 is good especially if you can get a VERY fast FSB speed. The best thing to do would be to find your highest stable OC at 1:1 and then your highest stable OC using your dividers. Then, test the system doing what you built it to do (gaming, media, etc) and see which works best for you. There is no rule etched in stone on this so it's really up to you. Have fun, Mike. paulmc28
Thanks for all the help Mike! The more I play the more I learn. Would still be interested in the setup the tech used for the performance report. Thanks again. Paul
Yellowbeard
I have not forgotten. I don't have that specific MOBO but I have looked at our reports and done some Googling. It appears that at some point the board was having issues with certain dividers. It makes me wonder if the 3:5 option has been removed. Also, what bios version do you have? Mike.
