WHOisDAN
I had a single stick of Corsair 1GB PC2-5300 in my Compaq V3000z laptop for about 2 weeks with absolutely no problems which I recently returned for a sale at Frys Electroncs. Part # VS1GSDS667D2 Frys.com had a sale a few days ago on " Corsair 2GB DDR2 PC2-5300 / 667MHz" which I received today. Ever since I installed the ram, I've been getting blue screen and automatic restarts. Eventually my laptop started to freeze. https://shop4.outpost.com/product/5001625?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG The Part # on the UPC says "VS2GSDSKIT667D2" and on the corsair website, that part # is PC-5300 ram and not PC2-5300. The part # on the ram itself is VS1GSDS667D2 which is PC2-5300. Cliffs: 2 Different part #'s for RAM. Confusion Laptop freezes and gets blue screen after installtion
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted October 24, 2006 Corsair Employee Share Posted October 24, 2006 VS2GSDSKIT667D2 is the Kit part# and is made with 2 VS1GSDS667D2 modules! Also with is the make and model of NB you have may require DDR2-533 memory, but I cannot find it listed in our memory configurator or a Technecicole spec for this NB to be sure! But to be sure I would test the modules one at a time with http://www.memtest.org.
