TWINXP2048-3200C2(1 stick bad)

I was watching a movie on computer and all the sudden got a BSOD. After I restarted computer it was greeted with the Windows did not start properly. Select either Safe mode, last known good configuration, or start windows normally. I tried all the options but none them worked. Just kept cycling in a loop.

I read on some forums that 1 cause could possibly be bad RAM so I downloaded a RAM checker app, burned to CD and restarted. I got massive amounts of errors(it ran 6 tests before unexpected failure and something like 76000 errors)

I then took out both sticks of RAM and tried one at a time. When I put in first stick I actually got to windows loading screen(progress) but then would BSOD every time. 1 BSOD said Fatal error and the other one restarted too quick to read. I removed that stick and installed the second stick of RAM and windows started up perfect. No problems at all.

I need to RMA the 1 stick of RAM. Please help me out.

Can you tell the make and model of MB you have along with the CPU speed and it’s FSB as well? In addition, please tell me the bios settings you have set for both CPU and memory and any performance settings that you may have set?

Here is the stuff that I know:

Motherboard- ASUS A8N32-SLI Deluxe Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce SPP 100 ATX AMD Motherboard

CPU- AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+ Toledo 2.4GHz Socket 939 Dual Core Processor Model ADA4800CDBOX

FSB- from the MB description says FSB 1000MHz Hyper Transport (2000 MT/s)

As far as the BIOS, I running the most current BIOS, and I havent changed any settings to the CPU, FSB, or Memory in the BIOS settings. Im away from my home computer at the moment so cant tell you exactly what it says. But they are default settings of the BIOS/ MB.

Hope that helps

Please make sure that you have the latest bios and then load setup defaults and set the Dim Voltage to 2.75 volts and then set the timings manually to the tested settings for the specific module you have, and then test the module/modules one at a time with http://www.memtest.org! If you still get errors, please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! However, if you get errors with both modules that would suggest some other problem and I would test them in another system or MB to be sure. In addition, with this MB you have to set the Ai Over clock tunner to manual and disable legacy USB in the bios when running any memory test.
