buffbiff21
I have had this ram since August, and I am using it now in my new build with an ASUS P5N32-SLi Premium nforce 590 chipset. Firstly, I configured under BIOS the timings to 800 MHZ 5 5 5 12 25 2t 1.9v. I am not overclocking CPU at all. I ran memtest86+ individually on each module for 9 hrs and they both fail. I have also tested it in an ASUS P5B (regular) intel p965 chipset. (no overclock) They both fail there too. Should I RMA these RAM cards? It has been 2 months since I have had them and I no longer have the original packaging, just the purple paper that came in the plastic package. Please help, thanks. Yellowbeard
For that memory, you will need to run the voltage at 2.1v, which is safe and within Corsair warranty spex. Mike.
buffbiff21
No..that didnt help. I put the voltage at 2.1, and Im getting the same BSODs over and over. In fact, it seems I am getting them more. I would run Memtest again, but Im pretty sure it would get the same errors.
Yellowbeard
When running Memtest on ASUS MOBOs, you will need to disable Legacy USB Support in the bios. There is a conflict that will cause Memtest to fail. Try each DIMM individually with the memory voltage at 2.1v. Mike.
buffbiff21
specmike, i appreciate your help. however... I disabled Legacy USB in the bios, and voltage is still at 2.1, and i ran memtest again. Each stick failed.... So.. I think ill have to RMA both sticks. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 24, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 24, 2006 Getting errors with both modules would suggest some other problem, can you tell me the complete system configuration and the bios settings you have set for both CPU and memory? And with the MB you have the memory frequency would need to be set to 667 Mhz in order to reach 800 FSB you might need to over clock the CPU! The Nforce 590 chipset does not officially support DDR800. For stable operation on this MOBO you will need to manually set your memory frequency to 667mhz with the CPU at stock speed. You should test fine there and then can attempt to OC upwards from there is DDR667 is not sufficient. Mike .

Right... but with the fact that it also tested with errors on a P965 chipset, isnt there a possibility I have faulty RAM? I will give the 667 speed a shot and check back tomorrow. Yellowbeard
I realize testing, repeating, changing parts, posting here, trying new stuff, etc is VERY tedious. Thanks for your patience. I was not clear if you have done Memtest on the P5B with Legacy USB Support disabled. If you have not, try it at all setup defaults except for the memory voltage at 2.1v. Also, if the memory is still in the P5N MOBO, it should test OK at 667mhz. If it does not, post up here again and RAM GUY will get you up to speed. One last thing, are these 2 TOTALLY SEPERATE systems you are testing the memory on or, are you swapping the MOBO out? As RAM GUY said, it is RARE with their quality control to get 2 bad modules in 1 TwinX pair. Hang in there, we'll get it sorted. Mike.
buffbiff21
After running at 667 MHZ, I ran memtest, still get errors on both sticks. Ok, you asked for it... Ill post some pictures that show my comp and BIOS. My system is as follows: e6400 Conroe/Allendale (whichever you prefer!) P5N32 SLI Premium 2 GB Corsair TWIN2X DDR2 Matched Pair RAM 800 mhz 5-5-5-12 EVGA 7950 GX2 Sound Blaster XFI OCZ 700w Gamestream PSU and here are pics: ( if you guys have dial up, dont go here, the images are 1.5 MB each) This ones the album: http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o148/buffbiff21/ If that doesnt work use these: http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o148/buffbiff21/inside.jpg http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o148/buffbiff21/PICT0001.jpg http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o148/buffbiff21/PICT0002.jpg http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o148/buffbiff21/PICT0005.jpg http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o148/buffbiff21/PICT0006.jpg http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o148/buffbiff21/PICT0007.jpg http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o148/buffbiff21/PICT0008.jpg http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o148/buffbiff21/PICT0009.jpg http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o148/buffbiff21/PICT0010.jpg (as you can see, the memtest screen was only 3 minutes long, and got all those errors. I did not take pictures of all the 9 hour long tests cuz i did not think i would post them anywhere...) For the MOBO testing, I swapped them out. But Im pretty darn sure the other hardware is functioning. For the rarity thing... Yeah... I was thinkin the same. Oh and I have tested in mutliple RAM sockets on the mobos as well... still fail. Im utterly boggled to what other tests to try... Should I play with the latencies some?
