Rozgurg
Hi there, earlier this year (07/08/06) I bought a load of components to piece together a new pc. It's been working fine up until 3 days ago and I'm at my wits end in trying to find what is wrong with it. Nothing had been installed or altered in between the period when it worked and when it didnt, which is what's confusing me. The machine seems to randomly reset itself and hang, beeping from the system speaker. I ran a full virus check which came up clean so my thoughts next went to the RAM. I downloaded the microsoft memory tester, and it's shown some interesting things: I have 2x1GB of Corsair DDR TwinX CMS3200C2PT , and the problem is occuring when they are both in together. When tested one stick at a time they return no errors at all on a couple of runs through with windows memory diagnostic, but when both are inserted together it takes very little time at all for the memory tester to hang and display garbage. Ive tried the sticks in dual channel in both slots A1 and B1, and A2 and B2 combinations in the MB. And I've also tried the moving the BIOS settings from default to the suggested latencies. The odd thing is that both sticks have been working together fine up until now, and the BIOS is set to automatic, I haven't overclocked anything at any point. my sys specs are: Asus A8N-Sli Premium nForce4 Sli AMD Athlon 64 3700+ San Diego Corsair 2GB DDR CMS3200C2PT TwinX (2x1GB) Akasa Ultra Quiet 400w Paxpower Active PSU BFG Geforce 7900 GT OC 256MB If you could throw any light on this, or point me in the right direction I'd be very grateful! Thank you for your time.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 20, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 20, 2006 The PSU you have may not meet the minimum requirements of you Video card, and the problem you have reported would suggest a power problem. I would suggest testing the modules in another system to be sure, but I would suggest one of our HX520W PSU's minimum for that config you gave!
