juninjesus
I've never seen this kind of problem before. Probably, you've never seen this kinky problem. This memory works fine at it's rated problem. I mean, 2.5-3-3-6 @2.7v 200MHz. If even can run 2.5-3-2-6 @ 2.6v 230MHz(HTT:Memory=1:1). But anything higher than 230MHz produced a lot of error at memtest86+ and at 234MHz, system did not even turned on. Higher voltage wasn't helpful. So far so good, right? From now on, it's gonna be really weird. Since this memory worked at upto 230MHz, I tried lower memory ratio such as 166MHz and 133MHz speed. I boosted HTT frequency over 230MHz (4x ratio, not 5x ratio). What the hell? Memory produced same error in memtest86+. Memory was running at less than 200MHz. At 234MHz HTT, system did not even turned on and only beep warning could be heard. I thought this is only my motherboard problem. So I tested with other board. Nothing different. Same Problem. I tested with my other memory modules. TwinX1024-3200XLPT, Ballistix PC4000 1GB Kit. They didn't produced such problem. At 300MHz HTT with 133MHz or 166MHz memory ratio(200MHz or 250MHz actual memory clock), non other memory modules produced such problem. I tested with DFI LanParty UT nF3 Ultra-D and MSI K8NGM2-FID. I've never heard this kind of problem. Can you explain why?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 16, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 16, 2006 I would suggest looking on the DFI forum, as that would suggest a bios setting and or issue with that MB. If the modules will run at their tested settings 1-1 with your CPU then its not the memory.
juninjesus
Well, this problem was occiured at both DFI and MSI board. I also tested with several hardwares. Tested Hardwares CPU : Opteron 170(Dual Core) and Opteron 146(Single Core) Motherboard : DFI LanParty nF3 Ultra-D and MSI K8NGM2-FID HDD : Seagate Barracuda 7200.7, 7200.9 SATA, PATA 160GB, 200GB, 250GB RAM : Corsair XMS TwinX1024-3200XLPT, CMS512-3200C2 x2, C r u c i a l Ballistix Tracer PC4000 512MB x2, K i n g s t o n Value RAM 1GB DDR400 I tested in several configurations. Only this CMX512-3200C2 memory module produced that problem in other than 1:1 mode. So, I don't think this is motherboard issue... Do you have any idea? Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 18, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 18, 2006 The isssue is the MB chipset and or bios the way it reacts to some memory modules when you use the Divider setting. And what are the settings you are running the other memory at that works?
