Second TWINX2048-3200C2PT faulty!

Recommended Posts

I have been sent a second set of TWINX2048-3200C2PT

which will not work in dual channel mode.

After following Corsairs Tech express it advised me to run memtest

after adjusting timings etc.

Memtest failed on test 5 with over 100,000 errors

Having returned the first set of memory the second set is failing

with 62,000 errors.

Is is memory or possibly MBoard...any ideas appreciated

P.s. Seems stable in single channel mode

I'm a bit confused, Is memtest reporting incorrectly then?

I can't see how more power is needed just for dual channel mode.

Most 7900GT power specs are 350-400watt PSU's

Just don't want to spend more cash on a bigger psu and it not fix the problem.

I have replaced the PSU to an approved 580W

With 18-20A on the 12v rails with no difference.

Testing each module seperately or in single channel mode together

passes memtest.

Only in dual channel mode playing games do I experiance crashes.

Everything is running stock, nothing is overclocked

CPU is running at correct multiplyer and freq.(auto config)

Memory is Running at 2.5-3-3-6 and 2T at 2.7volts (have tried 2.8)

Am considering returning my Mobo.....a bit too cheap and cheerful maybe?

Thanks for the ongoing help,

If both of the modules pass one up then it may not be the memory. I would make sure that you have the latest bios and then load setup defaults and set the voltage and timings and you might try moving the modules to the other two slots!

Have tried the other two black slots in dual channel

with the same results. Bios is 502 latest for this board.

Have checked asus forum for this board with no similiar posts

but there are alot of people with issues.

HAve noticed the NF4 SLI Chipset runs very hot.

Its only 3 months old so should have no problem returning it.
