possible bad ram module

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Hi,

I am running 2 sticks of XMS3200 (part # CMX1024-3200) ram in my computer. I purchased this ram in September of 2005, and have been running this configuration flawlessly for a year.

I left for a short vacation last Wednesday. I left my computer powered-down for this time. No changes were made to the computer. When I booted it back up this morning, the computer did not POST.

I tried numerous troubleshooting steps, but pulling out one of the RAM modules allowed me to boot just fine. I tried different combinations of DIMM slots, but it was always the same DIMM that gave problems. If it's out, I boot just fine. If it's in, no POST.

Thanks for your help in this matter.

Ben

Please set the Dim Voltage to 2.7X volts (+.2 Volts W/Giga-Byte) and then set the timings manually to the tested settings for the specific module you have, XMS2700C2 Cass 2-3-3-6 for example or if you have Value Select "BY SPD" and then test the module/'s one at a time with http://www.memtest.org! If you still get errors, please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! However, if you get errors with both modules that would suggest some other problem and I would test them in another system or MB to be sure.
