R4cOOn Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 Hello, It's my 3rd value select module. The 2 previous modules failed and this one too I tried memtest86 on 2 machines and if failed on both. I'd like an RMA number, please. Cheers,
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted October 4, 2006 Corsair Employee Posted October 4, 2006 Did all of the modules fail on the same MB? Or is this on more than one MB and or system?
R4cOOn Posted October 5, 2006 Author Posted October 5, 2006 I was using them on the same MB, yes. There's also another 512MB module from another brand which is still working fine and another 256MB module which is also working fine on it. I tested the module on another system and it also gave me some errors in memtest86. Moving the module around the SIMM slots didn't change anything and it's not overclocked and never was.
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted October 5, 2006 Corsair Employee Posted October 5, 2006 To make sure its not some other problem, I would test the system with just this module and load setup defaults and then test the syetem with http://www.memtest.org. But getting three modules fail would suggest some other problem.
R4cOOn Posted October 5, 2006 Author Posted October 5, 2006 I didn't make myself clear. It's a system with 3 SIMM slots and 3 modules of memory. Two of them work perfectly fine in whichever combination or by themselves. The 512MB from Corsair used to work fine with them too. Now it fails all the time, even if I put it alone on a SIMM slot and changing the slot still makes it fail. It also fails on another system when onle on the slots. I tested the module with memtest86 on both systems with the module alone on the slot and changing the slots. It was working before but fails now and I had to have this module changed two times before for the same reason (was working just fine and passing memtest86 then after a year or so the system becomes unstable and it turns out the module fails memtest86).
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted October 5, 2006 Corsair Employee Posted October 5, 2006 Yes I understand and that would suggest to me there is some other problem, and why I have asked you to test the module by it self, BUT RE-SET the Bios so its detected properly and test it again. If you just want to get it replaced please use the RMA request found in TSXpress or follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! And please note that you are from the forum! But I would suspect there is some other problem from what you have posted memory will not consistantly fail that way.
