gcordova Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 I am opening a new topic for me. Since no forum admin or any Corsair technical person is answering my concerns. I am disappointed on Corsair for not answering my concerns or returning my phone call. I have left a message on Friday morning and so far not phone call from them. My problem: I think I have a problem with the twin2x2048-6400C3. When I have both modules install on this motherboard (P5n32slisedeluxe) and play, any games (ut2007, bf2 or quake4) the computer freezes after about few minutes. This happens to me all the times, regardless what I do. Here is what I have done so far Set the bios to the default settings, so everything is set to the manufacture default with twin2x2048-6400C3 install. Then, I swap the memory around; put them on different slots (in dual channel A2 & B2 or A1 & B1) the same problems happen. I have two modules of P*N*Y 1G at 667MHz, so I decided to put them in instead of the Corsair memory. I can play all my games with no the computer freezing up, slow but, no freezing. I also notice once I turn on my computer (with corsair memory) it might not post. I have to cycle the power a few time before it does a post and finally into windows. I download the program memtest and ran the Std test overnight for 7 hours with no errors reported, however when I run the program 3dmark06 with corsair memory, my computer freezes up while the 3dmark06 test is at "Deep Freeze" test, but with the P*N*Y memory it does not freeze my computer at all it completes the 3dmark06 test, plus when I turn on the system with P*N*Y memory the always post and goes into windows everytime. I think I have bad corsair memory modules. All I have in my computer is, I am not OC'ing the CPU Bios 0501 CPU=x6800 xfx 7950GX2 Corsair memory (freq = 800MHz, volt = 2.2v) – DualChannel Timming – 3-4-3-9-auto-2T Antec trio 650W Antec case P180 I went ahead and install the twin2x2048-6400C3 in single channel configuration and I was able to fully run the 3dmark06 but I still have post problems, had to recycle the power multible times for the computer to come alive. However the other memory modules(other manufactor 2x512M/DDR2-667MHz) has no problems booting, running 3dmark06 or playing my games without freezing. I can run the Twin2x2048-6400C3 at 6667 with 5-5-5-15-auto-auto at 1.85volts with no game freezing at all. I did not pay top $$$$ for 800MHz memory to run at 667MHz, for that I could save some $$$ and get the memory that runs at 667MHz by default. I also try the bios default on the following settings. Bios 0501 Bios default (CPU-Z reports 5-5-5-18-22-auto) memory frequency = 800MHz |Cpu-z reports - 400MHz|- dualchannel memory volt = 1.85v (game freezes) Second settings (3-4-3-9-2T) memory freq - 800MHz |cpu-z reports - 400MHz|- dualchannel memory volt - 2.2v (game freezes) Any suggestions?

This is not recommended because as you found out, sometimes posts can get overlooked by accident.
gcordova Posted October 2, 2006 Author Posted October 2, 2006 I do understanding that, but I still need help, Ram Guy or any other Corsair Tech person, please give me some suggestion, or some kind of answer to my problem. If I have bad memory modules then I need to do something to return them.
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted October 3, 2006 Corsair Employee Posted October 3, 2006 Please set the memory frequency at DDR2-667 with the other settings and see if the system will run stable.
gcordova Posted October 3, 2006 Author Posted October 3, 2006 My system run stable at 667MHz with default bios memory timming, all games and 3dmark06 run full without freezing.
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted October 3, 2006 Corsair Employee Posted October 3, 2006 Then you can over clock your CPU to see where you can get the memory frequency to top out.
gcordova Posted October 3, 2006 Author Posted October 3, 2006 Ok, can you tell me how or point me the right direction. To what frequency do you want me to set the cpu to and memory.
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted October 3, 2006 Corsair Employee Posted October 3, 2006 I am sorry I cant tell you how to over clock, please call our Tech support at 800-205-7657 and we will try to help you solve the problem, and our hours are from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM Pacific Time Monday thru Friday excluding holidays!
gcordova Posted October 4, 2006 Author Posted October 4, 2006 You telling me that I can overclock my cpu, will overclocking my cpu fix my memory run at 800MHz and will it fix the freezing(computer games) problem I am having running my computer with this type of memory at 800MHz. If the answer is yes, then what frequency do you want me to set the cpu and voltage. for memory at 800MHz with timming 3-4-3-9-auto, 2T at volt=2.2v
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted October 4, 2006 Corsair Employee Posted October 4, 2006 I am sorry like I stated I can tell you how to over clock, its not allowed. But you can follow the link in my siganture and see what the settings we use to test the specific modules that might give you some Ideas. Also I would suggest you check the core of CPU you have at http://www.overclockers.com and see how high others have been able to over clock it.
gcordova Posted October 13, 2006 Author Posted October 13, 2006 What is going on. I send in my Twin2x2048-6400C3 (with timing 3-4-3-9)because I got an RMA for Corsair to see if my memory is good or bad. I just received a replacement, however it is not the same type of memory. I received Twin2x2048-8500C5D with timing 5-5-5-15. I feel cheated. I pay $500.00 to zipzoomfly for the Twin2x2048-6400C3. I went on the web and in zipzoomfly.com they are selling the Twin2x2048-8500C5D for $387.00. I feel cheated. Also i did not received a letter, email nor a phone call from tech support or from anyone explaining why I was getting a replacement from Twin2x2048-6400C3 to Twin2x2048-8500C5D. Why do Corsair leave people in the air not know what is going on. My RMA was R154092
gcordova Posted October 13, 2006 Author Posted October 13, 2006 I just got an phone call from Corsair :): . I will try the new memory twin2x2048-8500C5D on my system to see how it works out.
