Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted September 27, 2006 Corsair Employee Posted September 27, 2006 Please look up your system on our memory configurator, then see if the reseller will let you send these back and get the right part for your system. If your system is not listed then I would suggest using memery that is suggested by the system builder or maker.
dan262626 Posted September 28, 2006 Author Posted September 28, 2006 No i've checked my system. it totallly support the ddr2 (240) pin memories up to 533 mghz(pc4200). there is no problem with my slots either. i've checked all my slots and its working. any other suggestion. besides i've got mail and says you can send the parts back. what do i put in the box? just the ram and its package??? Thank you
Wired Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 While the GENERAL specs are the same, there's more to compatibility than just the speed of the memory. That's why Corsair has the compatibility site that Ram Guy linked to. Direct link: Corsair Modules Compatible with the Dell Dimension 8400 They do not list Value Select memory, only System Select memory. Simply put, Dells are picky as hell when it comes to memory. Talk with whomever sold you the memory and see if you can exchange them with System Select memory, or other memory that is guaranteed to work with your computer.
dan262626 Posted September 28, 2006 Author Posted September 28, 2006 you know waht really happende an hour ago. i put one the sticks in and start the computer. it worked. i have 1 gig= 2x256 dell ram+ 1 sick 512 corsair.... then i put the other one instead of that stick.. i haer the sound again and it didnt work... i think the problem is with the second stick... besides..what do i put in the box that im sending to you guys? just the ram ..and its package??? Thank you
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted September 28, 2006 Corsair Employee Posted September 28, 2006 What happens if you put just our working module by it self in the system? If it will post with that module then you can try replacing them, but I would not suggest mixin our modules with the modules that came with your system. Please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part! Or *New* Tech Support Express” and we will be happy to replace them or it, please note that you are posting from the forum!
jimwaldriff Posted October 13, 2007 Posted October 13, 2007 I had same problem dell 8400 dimension with 512 dell memory in slots one and three and the new values select 1 gig in 2 and four and it would not boot up So I put the Value select in 1 and 3 and the dell in 2 and 4 and it booted up fine
