PulpZx Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 Is anybody running TWIN2X2048-6400C4 with the Intel DG965WH motherboard. I used the memory configurator to find this memory selection. Is this combination really combatible? Will it work without a dought? The specs from the intel website say to use 1.8v only. But I have noticed the memory is 2.1V Should I trust the Corsair memory configurator ?
brainwave Posted September 25, 2006 Posted September 25, 2006 Initially my DG965WH with Twin2x2048-6400 5-5-5-12 1.9v RAM booted and ran fine. I have read that the latest Intel BIOS automatically detects 1.8v or 1.9v RAM. Therefore, I updated the BIOS to 1176 successfully. After that I benchmarked with 3DMark05. Then the machine would not start. Fans twitched every few seconds. I tried many things including clearing CMOS but no good. I have read similar stories on other forums. Therefore, I do not believe this board is compatible with this RAM. I am planning to RMA board and try again with Corsair Value RAM 677 1.8v.
PulpZx Posted September 25, 2006 Author Posted September 25, 2006 I almost bought that Ram. I cancelled the order at the last horn blow. I am actually running some 533 Value Ram that I borrowed from a friend. I want to go with PC-6400 when I purchase my own. I just do not know which PC-6400 is safe to buy for this motherboard. I don't mind paying more, but I want good performance for my Dollar.
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted September 25, 2006 Corsair Employee Posted September 25, 2006 Unless you have the option to set the memory Voltage I would wait till we replease DDR2-800 Value Select modules, other wise I would suggest VS2GBKit667D2 for that MB.
PulpZx Posted October 3, 2006 Author Posted October 3, 2006 Can you give me an expected release date for the PC-6400 Value Ram? days? weeks? months?
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted October 3, 2006 Corsair Employee Posted October 3, 2006 Probably next year but I dont have any release date as of yet!
