lajoes Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 I'm new at this detailed system configuration thing so please bear with me on this question: I am trying to build a new system based around an AMD64 FX62 on an ASUS M2N32 WS Pro motherboard. While I'm waiting for those parts to arrive, I'm trying to figure out what type of memory to order. My [downloaded version of the] manual says that the board takes "unbuffered ECC/non-ECC DDR DIMMs". Corsair's Configure feature recommends the Twin2x2048 6400C4s but I'd like to squeeze out more speed/performance if I can with the 6400C3s - if they are registered for that board. Also, the product description for the 6400C3s states that they are EPP - so can I even use them?
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted September 22, 2006 Corsair Employee Posted September 22, 2006 Xm2S-6400C3 modules are hard to get right now I would suggest Twin2x2048-6400C4 for best performance!
lajoes Posted September 23, 2006 Author Posted September 23, 2006 Thanks for the adivce! It sounds like they'd work - or the previous vervion - so I must be getting the hang of this. I guess the real fun will start when I slap some modules in this puppy.
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted September 25, 2006 Corsair Employee Posted September 25, 2006 Yes indeed, just get the latest bios version and load setup defaults before you set the tested settings for the specific modules you plan on getting!
