i purchased a set of TWIN2X2048-5400C4 from newegg, and after about 4 weeks, i started getting random freezes, so i troubleshooted everything except for the memory for about 2 days, until i decided to focus on the ram. i took one of the modules out, and still the same problem, and when i put that one in and took the other one in, there was an instant change. since then i havent gotten one of the lockups that usually happen about instantly after i turn on the comp, and it has been six hours. so im almost 100% positive that it is a bad stick. what do i need to do now?

Please make sure that you have the latest bios and then load setup defaults and set the Dim Voltage to 2.1 volts and then set the timings manually to the tested settings for the specific module you have, and then test the module/modules one at a time with http://www.memtest.org! If you still get errors, please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! However, if you get errors with both modules that would suggest some other problem and I would test them in another system or MB to be sure. In addition, with this MB you have to disable legacy USB in the bios when running any memory test.

i dont have a cd burner, so i dont know if i can set up the mem test, but i do have the latest bios, and the max voltage is 1.95 for my mobo, and i am running them at the rated times. but my voltage is 1.90 now so ill try 1.95 and then reply

well the setup defaults, and the RAM voltage of 1.95 seems to be working, but i dont know for yet, because sometimes the problems didnt start until the comp was on for a little while

well after running this for awhile nothing has happened, in terms of freezes or the normal problem i have, although i cant get memtest to boot off my usb drive, maybe im doing something wrong?

anyway, thanks for the quick reply, and if anything goes wrong, ill make another thread. again thank-you

well i ran it again, for 6 and a half hours, and it got 11 passes and 0 errors, so i guess its not the memory, thanks for your help

if you know anything else that could be the problem, ide be very happy to know
