Rezellmine Posted September 15, 2006 Posted September 15, 2006 Ever since I built my new computer I've been getting physical memory dumps with the code 0x1000008e atleast 6 times a day. What is this and how do I fix it?
Wired Posted September 16, 2006 Posted September 16, 2006 What CPU / FSB / Motherboard do you have? What is the exact part # and revision # of each stick? Is it a TwinX pack? How To Read the Memory Label If you have more than one stick, have you tested one stick at a time in each slot using Memtest86+? Rezellmine Posted September 16, 2006 Author Posted September 16, 2006 Processor -Intel Pentium D 3.4GHZ Memory sticks - VS1GB667D2 x 4 Motherboard - ASUS P5LD2 Dunno what a FSB stands for.
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted September 18, 2006 Corsair Employee Posted September 18, 2006 FSB = Front Side Buss and I would try and set the memory Voltage to 2.1 Volts and then try DDR2-533 with 4 modules.
Rezellmine Posted September 18, 2006 Author Posted September 18, 2006 How do I change memory voltage?
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted September 18, 2006 Corsair Employee Posted September 18, 2006 Should be in your Bios setup under Frequency and Voltage control! PLease check the user manual for more help with the MB Bios!
Rezellmine Posted September 19, 2006 Author Posted September 19, 2006 So what's the reason I'm getting crashes?
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted September 19, 2006 Corsair Employee Posted September 19, 2006 Its hard to say with out seeing the system, Did you run http://www.memtestorg after you set the Voltage? And did that help? And what is the stop error that you are getting? You can check for the possible cause of the error message at http://www.microsoft.com/technet.
Rezellmine Posted September 19, 2006 Author Posted September 19, 2006 I can't figure out how to use memtest.
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted September 19, 2006 Corsair Employee Posted September 19, 2006 Just make the Disk either CD or floppy and let it boot to it! Where to get Memtest and how to download it?
Rezellmine Posted September 20, 2006 Author Posted September 20, 2006 Without memtest (which I still don't know how to get it working because it won't activate when I restart) I managed to find out which ones actually work without making me crash. I actually have 2 left to find out from.
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted September 20, 2006 Corsair Employee Posted September 20, 2006 Did you make the floppy or the CD?
Rezellmine Posted September 20, 2006 Author Posted September 20, 2006 Yep, but it didn't work when I rebooted.
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted September 20, 2006 Corsair Employee Posted September 20, 2006 LOL Which one? the Floppy? Or the CD? And how did you make it?
Rezellmine Posted September 20, 2006 Author Posted September 20, 2006 Both, I formatted the floppy then installed it there. And with the CD, I burned it as an image. If I bought a twinpack, do I have to return both at the same time? If so, then I wouldn't have to go through checking the two memories that I havn't tested yet.
