disknapped Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 Jo all! Please if u dont want to get confused when reading this thread, read on from POST 12! Hi there :) hoppefully im at the right place her for this question :) I just build me a new PC. And im already relative lucky with it but still seeking perfection in optimization -> so long.. I got Corsair RAM here PC 2 800 6400 C4 Pro. In the *PDF file from Corsair home the latencies of this ram are stated as: "4 - 4 - 4 - 12" and 2 T. Now i look into my BIOS: 4 - 4 - 4 - 12 if i configure it manual. So far so good, but as i have to configure the timings manually, i dunno why but i have to, if i turn SPD to not autodetect the latencies it pops up more fields than corsair supplies me with numbers. So what is the 1. Write Recovery Time for my RAM? 2. TRFC? 3. TRRD? 4. Rank Write To Read Delay? 5. Read to Precharge Delay? 6. Write to Precharge Delay? And how should i apply this case with "2T"? i got no setting for "X T" ? And what is Static Read Control? i want it perfect. the worthes are actually set like this: 4 - 4 - 4 - 12 - 6 - 42 - 10 - 10 - 10 -10 - Auto. whats the manufacturers supported *fastest* settings? Best reguards and hope in hearing from any soon :) D.
disknapped Posted September 12, 2006 Author Posted September 12, 2006 sry i do another post right behind the first one. But i got to say i would appreciate your "HELP" very much as i would have to take off my Graficsboard out of the case each time if i would want to reach the BIOS clear Jumper due to mainboard layout and if i tried those settings myselves i guess the PCI E Slot or the card might have big --> very big stress. Greets D edit: 22:22 in germany: i tested around with the settings: Write Recovery Time: is stated with "6" by Lavalys Everest TRFC? for my RAM was however i dont know what itselves is for set for 42 and it runs memtestable at 20 so my timings are now: 4 - 4 - 4 - 12 - 6 - 20 - 10 - 10 - 10 -10 - Fastest. @ all memtests. CL -RCD-RP -RAS -WRT -TRFC -TRRD -RWTRD -RTPD -WTPD - Static Read Control When i set the ones which are at 10 to 0 or 6 at same time the system failed to bring a picture so i left it at the settings i found. With SISOFT Sandra in Cache and Memory Access i recieve Combined 26389 MB/s and with Speedfactor 37.5 with SISoftware Sandra Lite (Win64 x64) 2007.8.10.105 With MSN avast and Skype in background. on XP Pro 64 bit. Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted September 14, 2006 Corsair Employee Posted September 14, 2006 Any setting not listed should be set to Bios default ot Auto! You can get more help with unlisted bios settings at http://www.rojakpot.com
disknapped Posted September 14, 2006 Author Posted September 14, 2006 Hi there thanks for ur reply. sry maybe i wrote in some missunderstanding way. I ve already been to a forum in my native language and they helped me out very well. But what i may state so far: *Auto* is not available at settings for "CL -tRCD-tRP -tRAS -tWR -tRFC -tRRD -RWTRD -RTPD -WTPD - Static Read Control" after trying out the minorest settings in things of latencies by several bios resets in my case: 4 - 4 - 4 - 12 - 6 - 20 - 10 - 10 - 10 -10 - Faster is stablest lowest setting with memtest *rockstable* The bios defaultet that worthes to: 4 - 4 - 4 - 12 - 6 - 42 - 10 - 10 - 10 -10 - Faster. Before - better said alway if bios is cleared and SPD set to being handled by a user itselves. at 4-4-4-12-6-20-9-9-9-9 = at least the monitor starts up but i didnt memtest the settings. at 4-4-4-12-6-20-8-8-8-8 = Monitor starts up but it has faults in Memtest. 4-4-4-12-6-20- and for the following settings all worthes between 7 and 8 the monitor blanks. So the maximum i might do now would be setting for the last four numbers worthes between 8 and 9 to get maximum lowest settings for latencie. But i dont know if this settings anyhow affect performance in a positive way? best reguards and Thanks so far for ur recognition :) greets R absolute direct said my mainboard offers me: TRFC? <- Row Refresh Cycle? ->"tRFC"? *cleared to me what it means* TRRD? <- Ras To Ras Delay? ->"tRRD"? *cleared to me what it means* Rank Write To Read Delay? *not cleared to me in meaning* Read to Precharge Delay? *not cleared to me in meaning* Write to Precharge Delay?*not cleared to me in meaning* settings and i dont know which numbers i may have to apply from sides of corsair JEDEC specs in order to work with my chipset in perfect way. I guess it depends on how the Material reacts with each and all? And if the RAM configuration is not set to "By SPD" theres no option for setting them to Auto. And on the Corsair RAM themselves theres only latencie 4-4-4-12-?2T? Stated by the Corsair PDF Also my BIOS doesnt offer a setting for Command Rate (2t) All over would u think my RAM runs good and within performance area in which it should work if u look for the SiSoft Sandra results i posted? With SISOFT Sandra in "Cache and Memory Access" i recieve Combined 26389 MB/s and with Speedfactor 37.5 its because i use such RAM for first time and i am not sure if my system works in performance how it should. somehow as its from a sides the chipset i might have to go for ASUS with my request on how to steer the RAMs? Thanks! R
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted September 14, 2006 Corsair Employee Posted September 14, 2006 I have answered your question and the answer will not change. I can only tell you the published settings for the memory the other settings may or may not be memory settings and are not set by the user. All I can tell you is load setup defaults and only change the published settings ALL that are not listed should be set to Auto or Bios default. If you do not know what it does I would not play with it.
disknapped Posted September 14, 2006 Author Posted September 14, 2006 Thank u very much sir :) but as its about RAM latencie and runs memtest stable i guess theres no problem in my case if i myselves personally leave them at my settings. but about about the Sandra results as last request i have to u. Do you think they are in a "ok" area? From performance side? for E 6600 and roarrrr *awesome* PC2 800 2 GB Corsair DDR2 Ram? greets R
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted September 14, 2006 Corsair Employee Posted September 14, 2006 I personally have not run Sandra in a long time so I am not sure if the results are OK Or not. Just run the test with several different settings and programs and see which gives you the best over all results. The fastest memory settings do not always give the best over all system performance.
disknapped Posted September 14, 2006 Author Posted September 14, 2006 hopefully i dont bore u. but i guess i recieved a little performance increase: it grew from Combined 26389 MB/s and with Speedfactor 37.5 to Combined 26597 MB/s and Speedfactor 36.9 Some Windows XP 64 Bit memorymanagement workout on my own risk included. and in things of RAMlatency it says when doing *generic accesses* 82 nanosecs and Speedfactor of 64.1 thats if i look for the compare results close to fast access of a AMD 64 3000+ which means technically somehow the 3200 aera ram was a little faster in access time? eh? or similar.. even if ddr800 is set to cl 4 instead 2 like 3200 ones ve been. But if i compare those i got the 4x times bandwith? that are nasty bars :) --> i allow me to say again im happy that i upgraded :) i had an Athlon XP before also with corsair 2x 256 MB CMX rev. 1.2 @ 200 mhz and i was already impressed at its RAM results that time. Somehow my AMD board allowed those to run with 2-2-3-6 1T that days even if they was said to only run on intel with that settings. Lateron right before my new ones here i had upgraded to 2x 512 MB Dualchannelkit 3200 DDR those ran well to with Corsair specs. Better said in that case i was mostly impressed of having 1 Gigabyte :) But thats just awesome. so i guess from now i dont have to mind about what i myselves personally did with my PC settings. btw i got AI NOS thingie in BIOS set to manual and let it handle all by Auto just the RAM Setting is set to "DDR 800" much appereciated :) so long R
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted September 16, 2006 Corsair Employee Posted September 16, 2006 The Intel chipsets have not been able to run at 1T from what we have seen in our lab but the results you have look good. Please let me know if you have any more questions!
disknapped Posted September 16, 2006 Author Posted September 16, 2006 im fine thanks :) i added a photo of my BIOS with current ram settings just for u to have a look. so all cleared to me now :) Good Luck in helping people out :sunglasse
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted September 18, 2006 Corsair Employee Posted September 18, 2006 Great and thanks for letting me know!
disknapped Posted May 18, 2007 Author Posted May 18, 2007 hi there i wanted to tell u i found a updated Document from you :) here: http://www.houseofhelp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=52351 And after this i set my RAM´s (6400 C4 Pro) like this: 4 - 4 - 4 - 12 - 5 - 42 - 10 - 10 - 10 -15 - Fastest. @ all memtests. CL -RCD-RP -RAS -WRT -TRFC -TRRD -RWTRD -RTPD -WTPD - Static Read Control Faster For the underlined ones, there i still got no optimal setting. Im looking forward in getting to know them. Still im confused about the "42-10-10-10" there... makes me wonder some. :S Thats all i wanted to state with this post. And thanks for your attention again. :) Greets D
