OK, I am trying to play Counter Strike Source on my newly built system. SHould be cake because my computer with 256 ram and an old geforce from like 2000 can run it. However every time I am playing I freeze up for like 30 seconds at a time every couple of minutes. Here are my system specs and what I have tried to do to ammend the problem

1. ATRIX CSCI-A9001-C4 Black SECC steel sheeting FCC class CB&CE approved ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Retail

2. ASUS A8N32-SLI Deluxe Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce SPP 100 ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail

3. eVGA 256-P2-N555-AX Geforce 7600GT 256MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card - Retail

4. Antec SmartPower 2.0 SP-500 ATX12V 500W Power Supply - Retail

5. AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ Manchester 2.0GHz Socket 939 Dual Core Processor Model ADA3800BVBOX - Retail

6. CORSAIR XMS 4GB (4 x 1GB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Unbuffered Dual Channel Kit System Memory Model TWINX2048-3200C2PT - Retail

7. WIndows XP pro

8. SAMSUNG T133 Series HD300LJ 300GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM

1. I have removed all but one stick of memory still crashes

2. Left two sticks in still crashes

3. REmoved the video card from the PCI Express on top and put it in the bottom slot. STill locked up

4. Updated all the drivers on everything

5. Reset my motherboard to default factory settings

6. Ran Memtest86 with all 4 modules get 879 errors

7. Ran Memtest86 with 2 right moduels got almost as many errors

8. Tried running on one module got errors.

9. I am now trying a different module on a different slot but have not got an error yet. But I am expecting one.

This is really annoying because I just spent $1500 on a tower that I can't use for anything other than surfing the net. All my games seem to lockup. Any suggestions?

I am a huge corsair fan and have never bought any other type of memory. This is the first time I have ever had a problem like this. help!

Just wanted to reiterate that I am using the default settings on the mobo NO overclocking on anything. I completely wiped the OS and reinstalled, updated all drivers, and still go the error. So I reset to factory defaults and ran memtest and got errors. Will post the results of this next test when its done and I will also post the specs for my BIOS defaults when I can.

Ope up to 680 errors and then an unexpected interrupt happened. AFter I am done with this PC I am going to try and run them in this computer to see if that helps any. I am also going to try running some Mem from here in there. Will post results later or in the morning.

I know but I am a developer as well. I run up to 4 or 5 instances of visual studio sometimes with like a 100 other windows open. I just flashed the BIos from version 1101 to 1302 and running memtest again. A friend of mine and I got the EXACT same PC except he went SLI and he had no problems like this. I would try my mem in his PC but I moved 11 hours away. I will try bumping the voltage next.

OK, I flahsed the BIOS and ran memtest for 24 hours with no problems. Get back in windows and boom games crash still. I don't think its very intuitive how to change the settings in the BIOS on this mobo. Any suggestions on what my CPU/memory settings should be on an A8n32-SLI Deluxe board above and beyond the voltage?

Yeah I flashed, set the voltage to 2.75, set the CPU frequency to 200? Then I disabled legacy support. Still crashing. My next tries are going to be some updates for dual core processors on the AMD site and a bios flash on my video card.

If that don't work I have no idea what I will do next. Anyone know of a good place to take a computer in for this kind of thing? I know the computer shops where i used to live would not be able to fix it. But I live outside fort lauderdale now so there's gotta be somewhere.

Yeah, I doubt its the memory, I mean come on its corsair! Anyhow, I am thinking its a problem with the video card maybe. Last night i pulled the entire computer apart, reput everything back together. And still got the problem. My dad was saying that he thought it might be that the computer is not getting enough power but i have a 500W power supply built to support a SLI MB....... I will check the event log next i can't believe i have not already done that.

Is there any way to test if the system is not getting enough power? I just find it hard to believe that 500W powering only the mobo, processor, 1 video card, 1 hard drive, 1 dvd drive, and only 3 case fans is not enough. I have a 400 watt in my other PC and I have like 3 pci cards, two HDs, two DVD RW's, 6 case fans, video card, etc. But maybe I am wrong. I am going to by a video card today and slap it in and see if it fixes my problem. Hopefully that is it and I can RMA my current one. But well see. I will keep you informed.

I have no problem replaing your modules if you want to try that!. Please use the RMA request found in TSXpress or follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it!

bought a new video card, put it in, and walla! No more app hangs. I hve the evga one on RMA now. Hopefully, the new evga will work as good as the BFG one I bought does. If i have any more problems after that I might RMA my mem, but like I said I doubt its the memory.
