Matlock
My old Dell Inspiron 5000 has version 1.1 USB ports. It will recognize and work fine with several flash drives 64 MB or smaller, manufacturer unknown as they have company advertising names on them. I would like it to work with your newer drives that are all USB 2.0 but the system doesn't recognize your memory. Your memory works fine on my desktops but I'm going on a trip and need to take some data with me. Anything I can do?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted August 24, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted August 24, 2006 Make sure that you have the latest drivers and updates from Microsoft and for the chipset on your NB and it should run on a USB 1.1 port.
Matlock
I've gotten the latest Windows 98 updates and software from Microsoft. I have the latest BIOS (although dated in 2001) from Dell. Still doesn't work.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted August 24, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted August 24, 2006 Try the updates listed at http://www.usbman.com for Win98SE if thats what you have.
Matlock
As the title says, I have original Windows 98 not SE. I guess I could upgrade, probably to XP, I have an unused XP operating system package around here somewhere. Do you think that would solve it? Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted August 25, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted August 25, 2006 More than likely yes, and you would need to use Win98SE with USB 2.0 devices in most cases.
