wburchettj
I am shopping for new RAM to replace my existing garbage RAM. I want stability but also the ability to overclock and tweak my bios settings. Corsair reports 5 RAM modules that will work great with my system Most Popular TWINX2048-3200C2 :!: Best Overclocking TWINX2048-4400PRO Lowest Latency TWINX2048-3500LLPRO :!: Most Affordable VS2GBKIT400C3 XPERT - Configurable On-Module LED Display TWINXP2048-3200C2 I am leaning towards the two exclaimed marked above. I really want to use the TWINX2048-3500LLPRO. Will this overclock well? I am concerned that this module is DDR434 so therefore the AUTO setting under DRAM clock speed will not work properly (from experience) and will report the DRAM running at 266 mhz. I can however set it to run at 400 (the max setting of 266, 333, 400). By setting it manually at 400 how will it overclock or does overclocking have to do more with setting the timings (ie 2-3-2-6) and if so why does the TWINX2048-4400PRO have such slow timings(3-4-4-8) if it is listed as the best overclocker? PSU-480watt,P4 3.2HT,NVidia 7800GT 256MB, Full size SOHO FILE SERVER w/plenty fans and vents, running U320 SCSI Seagate Cheetahs 10K & 15K Thanks
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted August 22, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted August 22, 2006 I would suggest a bigger PSU, but our XMS3500LL would be a great choice for that system.
