I also think I have a defective part

Recommended Posts

I purchased the TWINX1024-3200LLPT from newegg.com on 11/15/04 and have had no problems with it up until about a month ago. Now my machine locks up after being on for a couple of hours. The motherboard in it is a MSI K8T neo. It comes with the Cool' n Quiet application that warns of issues. Well the warning I am getting has to do with the memory voltage being off.

I contacted MSI and per their request I did a memtest on the memory and found in less then 20 minutes of testing multiple errors.

I split the set and tested each unit individually. The first one tests fine in the 2 hours I let the tests run.

I was not so lucky with the other unit as it reported all kinds of errors.

Here are the results from Memtest86 V1.65

Settings: Ram:200mhz(DDR400)/CAS 2-3-2-6 Single Channel 64bits

Failing address: 0001453ba34-325MB

GOOD: fbfbfbfb

BAD: fbebfbfb

Error Bits: 00100000

Count: 8

I think I have a defective part here, what do you guys think?

Did you try and set the memory voltage to 2.8 Volts? If not please try that, if you still get errors then let's get them replaced.

Please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part! Or *New* Tech Support Express” and we will be happy to replace them or it, please note that you are posting from the forum!
