Faulty CMX512-3200C2PT

Recommended Posts

I think I have a faulty stick of CMX512-3200C2PT (dual channel pair).

I have had problems for a couple of weeks now, where XP sometimes wouldnt boot, or reboot at the loading screen.

Also, once into Windows the mouse would be very laggy even when doing nothing, also had various eventvwr errors but I reinstalled XP so those are gone.

I have the following screenshot from memtest86 which I suspect shows faulty modules:

I live in the UK and have had the sticks for around 6 months now, I take it this would be an RMA to the US?

Cheers

James :)

Actually those errors would suggest some other problem. I would suggest testing the modules one at at a time and please load setup/optimized defaults and then set the Dim Voltage to 2.7X volts (+.2 Volts W/Giga-Byte) and then set the timings manually to the tested settings for the specific module you have, XMS2700C2 Cass 2-3-3-6 for example or if you have Value Select "BY SPD" and then test the module/'s one at a time with http://www.memtest.org! If you still get errors, please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! However, if you get errors with both modules that would suggest some other problem and I would test them in another system or MB to be sure.

Thanks for the reply,

I tested both sticks individually, the other stick passes Memtest without any errors in the same DIMM slot that I tested this one. I also have other generic ram that I am using now instead and there have been no problems with them.

voltage was at "High" which is 2.7v+ on my board. I have no other options in the BIOS for it.

Thanks for the reply anyway, I have raised a RMA request, but have not heard back yet.

1 Question, as they are matched sticks, do I need to send off both sticks for the RMA?

Thanks.
