Ultimatexpka
well i took a test with memtest and i tested each stick individually and it sayd halt unexpected error on both of them and it showed me 600 errors on each stick... i cant play some games with anti cheat on witch probably scans my ram and stops the game. but i never saw the "halt unexpected error" thing when i tested my old computer. and i got these 2 ddr twinx2048-3200PT (2x1gb) speed 400mhz
Wired
what speed and timings are you running your memory at? have you tested one stick at a time?
Ultimatexpka
i didnt touch the timing or i didnt overclock my ram at all and yes i tested 1 stick at a time and now its really makeing me mad when all these read errors pop up and stuff
Wired
Sounds like you haven't changed your memory voltage settings either, so that needs to be corrected. CAS Latency (tCL): 3RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 3Row Precharge (tRP): 3Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 8 Memory Voltage: 2.7-2.8 Volts (Warrantied up to, but not over, 2.90 volts)All other settings to defaults. Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted August 17, 2006 Corsair Employee Share Posted August 17, 2006 That might suggest a power problem, can you test the modules in another system?
Ultimatexpka
its a 500 watt power supply and my friend had a 300 watt and his did the same thing now he switched to 600 and it does the exact same thing... It shuts down randomly. But hows it possible for a power supply to cause random restarts and errors even when you do nothing.

Ultimatexpka
nvmd about that i was for something else but how do I know when memtest stops because I think it goes and just keep repeating itself
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted August 18, 2006 Corsair Employee Share Posted August 18, 2006 Memtest will run in a loop forever untill you stop it. Just let it run for 2-3 passes if you have a failing module the errrors will be consistant and usually on test 3-4, if there is some other problem the errors will more random and on higher tests like 5,6,7 or 8. Ultimatexpka
so ure saying i should stop after I c an error? and how many tests are there
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted August 18, 2006 Corsair Employee Share Posted August 18, 2006 8 tests total per pass and let it run for 2-3 passes to check for a memory error and how long you run it otherwise will depend on what you are doing. So what is causing all my read errors and random shut downs and restarts???????? could it be my proccessor is bad or something is there something I could use to test that?
