jaemin79
First of all, I am not much of a computer guy. I recently found out about the dual channel mode and I opened the case to check the specs of my memory which I bought about 3 years ago from Newegg. It's CORSAIR XMS 512MB 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Unbuffered System Memory Model CMX512-3200C2PT. But then the CPUZ and Everest says it's running as PC2700 and it even shows the model name and CMX512-2700C2PT. I read the other thread about a memory would not run at 400MHZ. Is there something I need to do in order for that memory to work as what it's supposed to be? Or is it just a bad module? Please explain in a way that a guy like me can understand easily. Thank you. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted August 11, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted August 11, 2006 If you baught it more than three years ago its likely using the PC-2700 SPD as there was no JEDEC spec for DDR400 till January of 2004.
jaemin79
So what should I do? Is there anything I can do to make it run at the speed it's supposed? I bought PC3200 not PC2700. What is JEDEC spec for DDR400?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted August 14, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted August 14, 2006 You just set the timings and frequency manually is all you need to do! You can go to http://www.jedec.org for more information about JEDEC.
