Lable says it's PC3200 but it runs at PC2700

Recommended Posts

First of all, I am not much of a computer guy.

I recently found out about the dual channel mode and I opened the case to check the specs of my memory which I bought about 3 years ago from Newegg. It's CORSAIR XMS 512MB 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Unbuffered System Memory Model CMX512-3200C2PT.

But then the CPUZ and Everest says it's running as PC2700 and it even shows the model name and CMX512-2700C2PT.

I read the other thread about a memory would not run at 400MHZ. Is there something I need to do in order for that memory to work as what it's supposed to be? Or is it just a bad module?

Please explain in a way that a guy like me can understand easily.

Thank you.
