LTB-P5WD2
I have the Asus P5WD2 Premium and am runing Corsair VS1GBKIT667D2 1GB Kit DDR2-667 PC2-5300 Value Select on it and I want to upgrade my Ram. Here is my system build: P5WD2 Premium Pentium D830-Zalman CNPS9500 LED CPU Cooler Powercolor Radeon X800GT Corsair VS1GBKIT667D2 1GB Kit DDR2-667 2X512 Maxtor DiamondMax 250GB SerialATA 7200rpm w/16m Buffer (Media storage) BenQ DVD+RW Asus CDRW-DVD Lian-Li PC6070 Plus Case-Stock fans Antec NeoPower 480 Maxtor DiamondMax 10 6V300F0 300GB Serial ATA (3.0Gb/s) 7200RPM Hard Drive w/16MB Buffer (OS XP Media Center)) Samsung 215tw 21" widescreen monitor, Win-TV PVR500 I would like to add more memory to it. I had no clue what I was doing when I built this system and I used the least expensive Ram at the time. I would like to increase the amount of ram and I don't know if I should get another gig of the same or should I get 2 gigs of a different type? If I get a better ram do I need to remove the old? What is a good amount of Ram to run with this mobo? I mostly use my PC for multimedia and surfing. I record alot of TV and I stream video to a media center extender. I want good stable performace without spending a fortune. Also, what is ECC/Parity? Sandra 2007 says I should use Ram that has this. Thanks for your help. Yellowbeard
I would definitely suggest going to 2gb of memory AND doing it with 2 new 1024mb matched DIMMs. Mixing your current memory with new sticks is not a good idea. Try the RAM configurator: http://www.corsairmemory.com/corsair/configurator_search.html Mike.
LTB-P5WD2
There are a lot of options available. What would be the difference between a Value Select that I have and TWIN2X2048-6400C4? Do I need the TWIN2X2048-6400C4 or would TWIN2X20485400C4 be OK? Is the TWIN2X2048-6400C4 worth the extra $70? My system has been running Corsair VS1GBKIT667D2 1GB Kit DDR2-667 PC2-5300 Value Select Memory for almost a year with no problems that I know of but when I tried 3DMark my scores where low. I could only get about 8FPS in the first video test. All video test where choppy. Will new Ram help?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted August 11, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted August 11, 2006 I really doubt the memory is the cause of that problem, please make sure that you have the latest drivers installed for your MB.
