ryno267
Just built a new system, and got this memory CORSAIR XMS2 TWIN2X2048-6400 and this motherboard: ABIT KN9 ULTRA Socket AM2 NVIDIA nForce 570 Ultra MCP ATX AMD Motherboard Both support Dual Channel memory. My problems were during the windows install where boot to cd, then it copies everything to memory.. IF it got through that I would get an error after formating the drive and then it started copying files to the HDD... I've definately limited it down to the memory. I took out one stick and BOOM everything worked perfectly fine and I started setting up windows as normal first time. I swapped the single chip and once again errors, but this time "there is a syntax error in the .sif file that setup uses at line ; 5991" - basically same errors. I put both units in slot 1/2 originally, and tried 3/4 - same errors. I tried slots 1/2 and 3/4 - same errors. I JUST got these today and am wondering if this is something I need to take up with you Corsair or get a replacement at Newegg.com where I bought them. Thank you for your insight! rYno
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted August 9, 2006 Corsair Employee Share Posted August 9, 2006 Please load setup defaults and then set the memory voltage to 2.1 Volts and set the timings to the tested settings and test the modules one at a time with http://www.memtest.org to be sure.
