Pingouinche
Hello, (I'm sorry if someone has already asked this question!) I would like to know if the RAM TWIN2X2048-5400C4 XMS will be compatible with the motherboards GA-965P-DS4 and GA-965P-DQ6. The compatibilty cannot be checked with your configurator : http://www.corsairmemory.com/corsair/configurator_search.html. I've heard there is a lot of problems with these motherboards : some memories are not compatible at all, some others are "half-compatible" and cannot boot without high Vdimm, or cannot be used with CAS4. Will the 5400C4 XMS boot and run without any problem, and at CAS4? Furthermore, the data sheet (available on Corsair website) indicates that this memory is pre-programmed on 5-5-5-15. What about the RAM speed? And how to set the bios to obtain optimal results with a Conroe E6600? Thanks! :):
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted August 4, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted August 4, 2006 These modules will be compatible but you will need to manually configure the bios and memory Voltage. You can follow the link in my signature for the tested settings.
Pingouinche
OK, thanks! But, your link only indicates the settings for TWIN2X1024 PC5400 (2x512Mo) : CPU External Frequency: Manually set to 250MHz DDR2 SDRAM Clock: Manually set to 533MHz DRAM Timing Selectable: Auto Yields the following timings SDRAM CAS Latency: 4T SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 4T SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 4T SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 12T DDR2 SDRAM Voltage: 1.9 Are these settings identical for the TWIN2X2048 (2x1Go)? But, there is something I don't understand : the DDR2 Clock would have to be set at 667MHz instead of 533 ; and the CPU External frequency at 266 instead of 250, wouldn't they? Wired
All 5400C4 have the same timings.
Pingouinche
Very well, so I'll use these settings. Thank you, Wired. But what about the CPU external clock, and the DDR2 clock? I won't set DDR2 clock at 533MHz, for a PC5400 memory... I don't understand very well... It would have to be 667...
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted August 7, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted August 7, 2006 With the MB and CPU you have the memory Freq. will be 667 MHz, with the CPU at default.
