Corsair 1GB Secure Digital 133x

Hi,

 

I seem to be having a problem with my Corsair 1GB Secure Digital 133x card, this is the second one I have just received from http://www.komplett.co.uk the first just stopped working and always seemed to be slow on reading & writing to it.

 

I have just received the second card today and thought I would do some benchmark performance testing using both HD Tach & Sandra and I'm getting the following results using HD Tach:

 

Average Read 4.4MB/s

Average Write 5.0MB/s

 

When I believe I should be getting well roughly the speeds below:

 

Read speed of 21MB/s

Write speed of 15.5 MB/s

 

Also the Corsair sticker label doesn't seem to be straight on the card which has me thinking is this a genuine Corsair product, is http://www.komplett.co.uk an offical reseller of Corsair products.

Thanks for the replies.

 

The card reader just states its a USB 2.0 Its probably a cheap china import, I did what you asked and tried in through my OTG All in one hard drive caddie which has built in card readers and the results were better, see below.

Do you recommend a good card reader.

Well, based on my testing of the Sandisk 12-in-1 card reader, I was proven partially wrong. The Sandisk SD cards I was using are capped in their read speed to under 11MB/s unless I bought their 133X card. That became apparent after I tested a 60X card from Lexar, which tested out at 12.4MB/s read speed and 11.4MB/s write speed. (After that 60X Lexar card was low-level formatted in a Canon A540 camera, I got a 16MB/s read speed result.) This means that my particular reader can take at least some advantage of the new 133X cards.

 

By the way, I have not bought Corsair's SD cards yet -- they're virtually unavailable locally (as opposed to online).

 

And P Q I is now no longer marketing card readers (although that company continues to distribute flash memory cards).
