Only one 1GB Corsair Works???

Recommended Posts

I got ECS 648FX-A V.1.0 motherboard in my case and use Windows Vista and P4 2.8 Mzh. I needed to upgrade so I bought CORSAIR XMS 2GB (2 x 1GB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM Unbuffered DDR 400 (PC 3200) Dual Channel Kit System Memory. The problem is that I can only use 1 GB at a time. If I put both memories (2GB) everythings works well until I have the computer do some heavy work in Photoshop etc.....then I get a blue screen. Never get a blue screen with using only 1GB....it is actually pretty stable like that.

The ECS motherboard is suppose to handle 2GB 400Mhz memory (has three slots though)

I updated the Bios with "fxa10c1.bin" which is suppose to enhance the stability of 400Mzh memory....did not help.

I added X800 ATI Radeon video card and 430 volt power supply....did not help.

Now, I need at least 2GB for my Photoshop. I am guessing the memory is good, but the motherboard is not it....or what. Do I need a new motherboard or is the memory mabe bad?

Thanks for any comments,
