stu.artd
I have just built a PC based on a Gigabyte DS4 motherboard running the F2 BIOS which I believe is the most recent release. I have got a TwinX pack of 2 x PC6400 DDR2 for it but with both in the BIOS only sees 2032MB. With either one in the BIOS sees 1016MB. I have tried each of the sticks of RAM in each slot, on their own and in combinations. Does this seem like fauly RAM or a motherboard issue as it's got me  ? Wired
1024 - 1016 = 8 2048 - 2032 = 16 I'd guess there's a BIOS setting that's reserving that 8 MB for something. What I have no idea.
stu.artd
After a reply on another forum...I've looked in the relevant section and on Page 42 in a little note at the bottom....Intel®QST....a small portion of system memory will be shared when Intel QST is enabled. However the thing that seemed to make the difference is leaving the CPU speed control at Auto. I set it to manual but left the clockspeed the same and the motherboard reported 2048MB. Setting back to auto dropped it to 2032MB so that's the source of the problem and it's easilly sorted :).
