Spartacus167
I have 2 1gb modules of Corsair CMX1024-3500LLPRO. They are failing memtest. It comes back with a 66% pass, and over 1000 errors. I am running a ASUS A8n32-SLI, AMD 4000, both of which I just RMA'ed because I thought it was them that were bad. But its the memory. Also I replaced the ram with other memory and the computer works fine. It also fails Prime95 stress test.

Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted July 24, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted July 24, 2006 With this MB you have to Disable legacy USB and set the CPU frequency manually or you might get errors in http://www.memtest.org.

Spartacus167
I was very surprised when I called ASUS and they told me sometimes high-end memory requires a little tweaking to work. With help from them I set the memory settings in manually without disabling the usb legacy and the memory works fine now. I have built hundreds of computers as I own my own computer repair shop. It was a good learning experance for me as I most likely be seeing equipment such as this in the future in for repair at my shop. Thank you for your help. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted July 25, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted July 25, 2006 Well with this MB you have to Disable Legacy USB when running any memory test or you might get errors that are not from the memory! But if its up and running then ur good to go!
Spartacus167
I misunderstood then. I thought you ment you had to disable USB to get the memory to work right. Not the test. That is good info to know. Thx again.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted July 26, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted July 26, 2006 OK NP yes it’s because when this is enabled it will shadow some information to memory and the memory test will interpret this as an error.
Spartacus167
The memory started failing memtest86 again. I tried disabling the USB legacy but it still fails. As soon as memtest starts it comes up with error after error. I have an ASUS A8N32-SLI could you tell me exactly what settings need to set in the bios for this memory. Thank you. Spartacus167
The bios rev is 1205. All the settings are on auto I changed them back to run more tests. My cpu is an AMD 64 4000.
Spartacus167
I pulled out a stick of ram and ran memtest86 again, and it passed. I swapped them out and only 1 stick is failing memtest. I would think this means I have a bad stick of ram huh?
